Smart Essentials 4-Quart Glass Mixing Bowl

This 4 quart Pyrex bowl was just what I needed. I have had the thee-set bowl for many years and it has held up beautifully. But I needed a larger bowl because making a cake in the biggest of the set of 3 was really pushing the envelope. This 4 quart is just what the doctor ordered. The bowl is large enough that the batter won't splatter out when I increase the mixer speed. I also used it this weekend to serve and store a very large fruit salad. The clear glass let everyone see the beautiful fruit inside and with the well fitting lid, there was no need to mess with plastic wrap. It cleans up great when washed by hand but really shines when it comes out of the dishwasher. It says the lid is dishwasher safe, but I just give it a quick wipe with a sponge because I always worry about lids warping in the dishwasher...but that's just me. I knew I would love the quality of this bowl as much as the others. I was not disappointed and you won't be either.

I eat more salads now. It was such an inconvenience to have to make a salad all the time. This way, I now make a huge salad and it’s there at the ready to just grab enough for a single salad to dress up differently every time. One of the best purchases ever. It’s kind of big and so takes up room in my fridge, but it’s a healthy minor inconvenience.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: It came with a lid so I can use it for raising bread without having to rely on plastic wrap -- that was the main reason for my purchase. Also, it is Pyrex, so it can have many uses, ranging from storage to baking casseroles. Also, it can go in the dishwasher, another plus. Functionality: It can have several uses in the kitchen.

If you need a really big bowl to take things to potlucks or whatever, this is your huckleberry!

I love this oversized bowl! Great for pot luck pasta salad or mixing large recipes!

Use the bowl all the time. Love the lid. Completed my Pyrex mixing bowl set. But the packaging was horrible!!! I’m shocked my bowl was not broken when it arrived. It was in cardboard box a lot bigger than my bowl and absolutely NO packing or anything around it! So the bowl must have been bouncing around in there. Just terrible packaging.

The only reason it's not so easy to clean is because it is large enough that it doesn't easily fit in our old-fashioned sink. Aside from that, love the size (wouldn't want too many of these, but am happy with 2), love having the cover.

If you need a large mixing bowl this is a great choice! I purchased it to replace the 4qt bowl in the 4-bowl set which broke after an unfortunate incident involving a drunk house guest, an icy front porch and margarita mix. This is the same bowl that originally came with the set and I was so glad that it is available for separate purchase. As previously stated this is a large bowl. It holds a lot, and makes mixing large quantities easy. I really appreciate that it is wide and sort of shallow rather than narrow and deep. The clear glass also makes it easy to see whether your ingredients have been fully mixed and it looks nice as a serving bowl as well. I haven't used the lid/cover yet but it fits snugly and will come in handy if I need to transport a bowl full of goodies. Highly recommended for your mixing and serving needs.

Bought this covered bowl to replace our green travel tote. It is exactly the right size and profile. There is enough room for the hot/cold pads to take your prepared meal to any event. A great replacement product.
