4" Universal Pillar Drill Vice, Swivel Bench Vise for Jaw Work, Mini Drill Press Vise Clamp, Workbench Table Engineer Workshop

This is my first vice so I have nothing to compare it to. I bolted mine to a small piece of plywood to make it portable. Use clamps to hold the plywood to whichever table I am using which is handy when I want to use it in my garden. Bought some soft jaws for it for woodworking as well. I'm happy with the quality.

Surprising number of small DIY jobs are so much easier with a vice.I have mounted the vice to a pice or 2x3” wood with some nuts and bolts - this then allows me to tighten the wood in the jaws of my workmate. Keeps it sturdy and then easy to use the vice to hold pipe or conduit or multiple things.It is much heavier duty than expected but not intended to be used for really large jobs.Very pleased with the vice.

For the money I am surprised by what I got. My budget would not allow for anything more expensive and I was pleasantly surprised at what I did get.The vice is heavy, very heavy, well made and being able to turn the vice, versatile. For the money I have no complaints at all. Being heavy it is OK for metal as well as wood. I made a couple of jaw liners for my woodwork which make the vice even more useful and versatile. For holding metal - for cutting and filing - it held everything perfectly.OK so it is not smooth in action and somewhat 'clunky' in use, but as a vice it does all I need and I am delighted to recommend it to anyone wanting a cheap solid vice.

The adjusting screw and the moving jaw are loose and sloppy in action but the clamp holds firmly once tightened up. The construction is heavy and solid but the jaws have very sharp edges and corners. I cut my hand a couple of times and eventually filed all the edges and corners down. This should have been picked up by quality control and remedied before dispatch.

This is not the best finish....but then it was relatively low cost. Some of castings have sharp edges, but a fil sorted that out. Reccomend buying soft jaws unless you want to get a file out again to reduce jaw marks on the work piece. Overall it does the job.

Need to file down some Lego, or sharpen a candle? This vice is really useful for a hobbyist of smaller things - like cycles, skateboards, Hornby/Scalextric, Jewellery. For anything larger, it's as strong as the stomach of a millennial vegan in a kebab shop, and will snap like a false nail from a market-stall. For anything larger than a brake caliper on a bicycle, choose a proper vice. Otherwise it's fine.
