Ace Martial Arts Supply Crossbow String Replacement and Caps (50, 80, 150 180 LB)

This crossbow is a good starter bow for someone who has never used one. Many years ago I was into Archery and enjoyed it very much. This crossbow has just the amount of power (80lbs) to put a bolt into a tree at a good distance. There is only one item that did not work well and that is the arrows (bolts). Every arrow that I shot into a tree the tail fins would break off. My suggestion would be to buy a more expensive arrow for the 80 pound bow if you don't want to be constantly ordering the cheaper arrows.

The string has been absolutely amazing. isn't ripping, hasn't broken and fits both 50lb and 80lb bows. These do not hold up to my XTremePowerUS compound crossbow. It is only a 28 pound bow, however, it uses a steel cable and the quarrel is forced to rest some distance ahead of the string, so it is an unusual set of circumstances. They have, thus far, lasted between 3 and 9 shots before snapping apart at the joint of plastic and aluminum. This is my main gripe. Some of them are slightly out of spec. My crossbow likes best ammunitions at 6mm. Many of these are dead on, but some measure out more like 6.3mm, and don't fit very nicely under the ammo hopper. Those criticisms aside, they seem quite accurate until they start to fall apart. If you use an appropriate crossbow to hunt small game with, and are thus prone to losing bolts, these ones may be very good for you. For the price, I can forgive the flaws listed above, but as I am a target shooter and reusability is a big deal for me personally, I will likely be going with a better, if more expensive, alternative in the future.

First off let me start by saying that I have purchased many items from Amazon over the years. Depending on what I'm buying, I kind of know what to expect. Having said that, I purchased this item as a spare string for my crossbow. The price was $6.25. To me, that is not a lot of money, to others it might be. This review is more about principle than price. When you make a purchase, regardless of how much you paid for it, right out of the box you expect it to function. Let me get to the problem. I installed this string on my crossbow with no issues. The problem is after installing I observed that the string was coming unraveled from one of the loop ends. Now mind you, I have not fired a single bolt through my crossbow with this string installed. I don't know how long this string will last without some type of effort put forth on my part to keep the string from unraveling. I may try to apply some heat to the end of the thread to melt it to stop the unraveling. That will probably work but I don't know for how long. This is a rather long review for $6.25 but it serves two purposes. 1) to vent and show irritation and 2) to forewarn. I would send it back but I honestly don't think it's worth the effort. Considering how inexpensive these strings are they last long and work great. This string is on my 80 lb. pistol crossbow (also from Amazon & incredibly awesome) and has shot at least 100 bolts with no loss of power or breaks. Even though they're quality strings I'd recommend getting a few backups because even the best strings can break. And for the price it's worth it just to have them around.
