Just what I wanted, stays out of my way
I have the Mini DisplayPort version, switching my LG 34UM95 between my PC and MacBook. It drives my display perfectly at 3440 x 1440 @ 60 Hz. I have a Model M keyboard with a USB converter, a Microsoft wireless mouse, and a chain of USB hubs with a webcam and other assorted stuff hung off of it, and everything works fine. The "Scroll Lock twice to swich displays" feature does not work; I'm not sure if this is because of the keyboard I am using or because I am using it with a Mac. For what it's worth, it doesn't work from the Windows side either. I haven't tried the bundled software but you might want to give that a shot if you want to put the KVM somewhere where the button on the front is inaccessible. The KVM does not do any sort of emulation of display, mouse, or keyboard; the active computer will behave as if everything is directly connected to it (it will see the monitor's model number and the keyboard and mouse manufacturer instead of generic devices) and the inactive computer will behave as if nothing is connected to it, like the cables have been unplugged. This works out for my use case because it means everything migrates over to my laptop's screen when I flip the main display over to the PC, but it may not be what you want, if you have a computer that behaves badly if a keyboard or display isn't connected when it is booting up.The case is metal and it feels pretty solidly built. It could be heavier; the weight of the cables can easily make it rest off-kilter if it is not positioned carefully. It came with two 6 foot USB and Mini DisplayPort combination cables; if that suits your setup, all you'll need is a cable to connect it to your display. The ports for connecting to the computers are on the back of the unit but the ports for the keyboard/mouse/additional USB are on the front; this is kind of annoying and my desk would look a little less messy if those cables were in the back. The unit appears to be powered by and senses the presence of connected computers through the USB connections; when I disconnect the USB from my laptop, it will automatically flip to my desktop.

Descent switchbox - but hotkey doesn't work on Mac/Linux type boxes
Overall a descent and inexpensive switch-box. I purchased for just under $90 which was a great value at the time. I'd give 3.5 stars because of the value, but 4 stars seems a little too high since an advertised functionality doesn't work (hot-key) on Mac.Pros:* Supports 4k - I'm not actually using 4k, but I am using dual 27" Dell U2715Hc (2560x1440) which work great.* Comes with 2 Display-Port/USB molded KVM cables.* Online support is actually pretty good.Main issues:* Ports for keyboard/mouse and shared USB are on the front. This might not bother you, but I prefer all ports in the back.* Hot-key switching (scroll-lock+scroll-lock) doesn't work on my MacBook Pro or Ubuntu box. This is because that key is not natively supported by the OS. It should work with Windows though.* No emulator to keep the computers thinking they are still connected to a monitor when you switch so you don't have readjustment/flickering each time you switch. Ok, I was spoiled with my last switch-box which had this functionality (Avocent), but those are 4x+ the cost.* Only supports USB 2.0 - they really should support 3.0!* KVM cables it comes with are only 3' longAfter trying to get hotkey switching to work and failing, I contact customer support from StarTech.com and they mentioned the following:- Their KVM uses switching macros and that will not work in a Linux environment. The reason is that Linux does not have native "scroll lock" functionality and simulating the function through bash shell is difficult and will not always work.- The MacBook is probably in the same situation as "scroll lock" is not supported and is instead mapped to F14. Unmapping has no effect.- "Android File Transfer" is a program known to cause issues when using KVMs as it can interfere with other USB devices from connecting properly.

Don't buy if you have an alternative
This review is for the 2-port mini display port KVM.First off, if you're used to the old style VGA/PS2 KVMs like I was, keep in mind that there's no active signal sent to port that's off so it's basically the same operation as completely disconnecting the mouse and keyboard. This causes Windows machines to resize windows / move desktop icons, etc just as disconnecting the monitor would. I also use this on MacBook Pro with the lid closed, and it goes to sleep when switching to the other port. Makes sense when you think about how these work compared to the older, simpler devices, but something to be aware of. Also keep in mind that the keyboard shortcut to switch ports only works in Windows so for me it's pointless.None of that effects my review. What does effect my review is the apparent low build quality of the device. The first I bought from Amazon wouldn't display video at all. I have a few different monitors around, and none of them worked. Plugging in two machines allowed me to switch the keyboard and mouse between both, but the monitor never worked. I sent it back to Amazon for replacement and promptly received a new unit (yea, amazon!). The second worked, but one set of cables didn't. I used an extra usb A to B cable and mini display port cable that I had lying around and I was back in business. It worked pretty good for 5 months (occasional video glitches on the screen - typical of Startech equipment) but then completely failed. Both ports dead. This one I had to RMA. So kudos to Startech for replacing the device without much hassle, but I don't have a lot of faith that it's going to last me long. We use a number of Startech Thunderbolt docking stations at work and they're extremely flaky and failure prone, so I don't give this company high marks.

Works at 3840x2160@60hz with G-Sync! But display blackout problems abound.
I've been using Startech's two-port mini-displayport KVM for several months. It's indeed capable of 3840x2160@60hz (in and out), including G-Sync.Spec-wise, this thing ticks off all necessary boxes (though it's confusing why Startech went with mini-DP form factor here). That said, I've had horrendous issues with this unit randomly blacking out the monitor output, sometimes constantly, all without any conceivable reason.I'm fairly sure it's the box itself, and not the cables - I've tried a few, including the ones supplied, and the rate of blacking out doesn't change with cable wiggles, or more/less insertion, or otherwise, so it doesn't sound like a connection problem either. Systems are plugged into the same ground circuit so it shouldn't be a grounding problem, I'd think either?Anyway, this occurred from day one. You might also be able to go a few hours or days without your display blacking out, but more likely you'll see your poor monitor blacking on and off at random, at a rate of anywhere from half a second apart, to every few seconds, or even maybe once a minute or longer. As I said, it's quite random. Some reviewers stated this occurs only for PC2 when switched to it, and indeed it occurs more often there, but it still does occur for both PC inputs. It's quite jarring and eventually drives you bonkers and might give you a headache. That said, as a troubleshooting measure, going back to 3840x2160@24hz stops the issue. I still see the issue at 1920x1080@60hz, so I'm not sure if it's a cable/bandwidth issue. Seems like the actual KVM has some problems. So far I have not had any luck trying a custom refresh rate to see if it behaves better at 59hz or something close to that. Sticking at 24hz makes this thing nearly useless.I can't recommend this product, given the number of problem reviews complaining of similar issues, and the fact that support/RMA processes for these other users have not helped alleviate this issue (I have not tried this route myself, yet). Unfortunately there are very few alternative products for a similar price point out there, so 2160p users are going to be rather stuck waiting for a while if this isn't resolvable. I can suggest using a monitor with its own input switcher, and use a software KVM app like Synergy for keyboard/mouse switching, I guess, but my Acer XB280HK just has the one DisplayPort connector.I'm quite disappointed so far, but I'll be happy to try the RMA process in case I can add a positive result to the pile later (and update the review accordingly). I'm really not holding my breath, though.Look elsewhere if you're a 4K user, honestly.

Worked perfect and video quality was great
Worked perfect and video quality was great. A bit more than I was planning on spending but when you compare to a KVM in HDMI the cables alone contribute to most of the value of it so cables alone for this were probably a bulk of the value.
