This grill prop is the best I've seen. It's a precision unit made of excellent materials. Some reviews state that it will not work properly if the edge of the grill lid is too thick. Frankly I don't think they studied the directions well enough. It comes with an assortment of various length stainless hex bolts with locking nuts that can be used in various configurations to obtain the clearance necessary for it to work well. Also some review complain that it's not lifting the lid enough .. as the directions state - mount it just forward of the center of the lid (not like the picture) and it offers plenty of variations - more than enough. I'd highly recommend this unit.

I recently purchased a replacement grill for the home and realized that the hood height was smaller than my previous one. We cook a lot of drunken chickens (look it up - excellent way to grill a whole chicken) and the new grill was just short enough that the lid would rest on the top of the chicken. I was looking for something that would hold my grill lid open to keep this from happening.First the good - quality materials and a slick design. The knob is heat resistant, the aluminum won't rust. Actually a bit stylish on the grill - doesn't look like some add on item.Now the bad - the bracket doesn't fit my grill hood. And it wouldn't have fit my old one either. It's just a bit too narrow of a channel. There are instructions for drilling through the lid (which is what I did) but I gotta believe someone could have put some extra thought into how to accommodate thicker lid edges. The bolts, when used with the bracket, actually push the lever away from the lid instead of holding it snug to the lid. Even a magnet attachment could have worked (depending on how heavy your grill lid is).Also, it would have been nicer if the total distance the lever moves through were just a bit longer. It seems like it only holds it up an inch, maybe two. Would like to see it longer. I may add something to the bottom piece to extend it.Overall it really is a 3.5 star product. I rounded down because I just feel that they didn't go that extra step with this. I really hope the manufacturer looks again at the bracket attachment and how to improve the "universal fit" it should have.

This grill shift has rocked my grillingto a whole new level of perfection !You will need a cobalt drill bit to drill into the grill (not included) once you do this installation is quick. Control your heat and cook meat to perfection. Very happy with my purchase and recommend this tool to any griller!
