All 20 tracks from the first two albums by these soft-rock superstars of the '70s! Their eponymous debut and it's 1977 follow-up Rear View Mirror are combined here, and that means, of course, Afternoon Delight plus the hits California Day and Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll!

A sound like ABBA but country.
I only knew their number one hit until I stumbled on samples from this album. This songs have a country feel to them and are better than I imagined they would be. Worth it in my book.

The only Starland Vocal Band album to buy
Love the hit song 'Afternoon Delight' so I bought this cd which covers the first two albums completely. Most of the songs are fine with a Bob Denver feel (they were signed to his label), but overall it is just fine singing and some good music for being in the background while doing something else. Nothing earth shattering here as far as songs, but nothing bad either. Happy to have it in my collection, but do not pay too much for this unless you are a hardcore fan.

So one guy posts 5 '1-star' reviews on the same date. What an idiot.
I doubt that "Flabbergasted" ever listened to this disk or anything else by SVB, other than their hit single, which he doesn't seem to like. (But let's be clear - AM Radio, 1976, and the Number One Song was an unapologetic tribute to pure S-E-X! Says more about him than about the song, dunnit?) Their first album starts with the Emmylou Harris/Bill Danoff composition "Boulder To Birmingham," and as far as I'm concerned, they could've stopped there. As a whole, the first album (first ten songs) has some pretty good material - "War Surplus Baby" and "American Tune" are the standouts. And those harmonies! But "Rear View Mirror" - wow - the second coming. This is, and has been since forever ago, one of my 'desert island albums.' The opening track, "Liberated Woman," is a bit dated, perhaps, but still musically strong and an aural delight. After that, this picks up and never slows down. Margot Chapman's voice is perfect for "Mr. Wrong," "St. Croix Silent Night" is one of the best tunes and arrangements I've ever heard, leading into the strongest five songs that the group ever recorded. And did I mention the harmonies? Anyone who's ever fallen in love understands "Prism," (more Margot) and anyone who's ever mistakenly fallen out of love understands "Don't Say Forever." Buy this disk. Listen to it all the way through - headphones, please. If you don't like it on first listen, put it away for a month and try it again. These melodies will stay with you forever, once they get into your head. And those harmonies! (One final thing: RIP Danny Pendleton, steel guitarist for SVB.)

Need to protect the CD case better
The CD is not damaged but the case is cracked, see pic. Need to to a better job protecting the CD case. It came in a padded envelope but that is not enough. Please send me a replacement CD case. Make sure it is the regular size case and not a jewel case. Thanks.

Nostalgia time
I listened to this in 1976, the year of release. It was great. I like the whole album, but Afternoon Delight was my favorite.

Great easy listening!
Excellent 1970βs easy listening. Great harmonies. Emy Lou Harris performed at a hippie/sailor hangout called The Red Mule. She was not paid. Her answer was βNorfolk, Virginia.β I donβt know that she ever recorded it. Being a former Norfolk sailor and former Red Mule patron... I love this CD. I was not present when Emy Lou appeared there.

Like others, I bought this for the title track ...
Like others, I bought this for the title track alone.I was not really concerned about the other tracks but much to my surprise I like the album as a whole. Perhaps none of the other titles made it across the Atlantic to Europe or perhaps my musical interests stayed focused on the sixties - my adolescent years. Those female voices are divine and are reminiscent of The Mamas & The Papas.Overall this makes for some very pleasant listening and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Nice for in the car
A less complicated version of The Mamas & Papas - nice harmonies from two couples who were clearly in love with each other. Sunny sunshine tracks ideal to drive to. Title track is the outstanding track though.
