King Arthur Flour Non-Diastatic Malt Powder, Kosher - 16 Ounce Bag

Fine powdered malt product for use in bagels. I am very satisfied with this product. I always trust King Arthur products.

I had been a craving a real bagel after a trip to DC where I found an awesome bagel shop. Store bakery and Einstein just wasn’t cutting it. I ordered this and follow the recipe on the bag! I’ve been making the most delicious, crisp, yet chewy, salt bagels ever since! I’m no pro baker either! If you want a real water bagel you have to use this stuff!!

I was hoping to find malt that would be suitable for making malted milkshakes. After getting a quick online education about diastatic vs. non-diastatic malt courtesy of Amazon customer reviews, I decided to try this product based on the + reviews as well as the King Arthur brand which I trust on account of their good flour, and in spite of the breathtaking (not in a good way) price. Turns out I chose well because the flavor of this malt is exactly what I was hoping for: it reminds me of malts I had in my childhood, and my own kids, initially dubious, were intrigued and impressed by the end result in spite of themselves. I'm not sure whether I'd buy this malt again, at the price, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts (and considering that I add a profligate two heaping tablespoons to each batch, it won't last very long).

I truly love this stuff. I add it to all my breads and cookies. The flavor is enhanced and the texture is so soft.

The media could not be loaded. OMG this promoted a level of softness to my Bread. I feel like I’m a Bread professional. I recommend and day 2 is just beyond soft.

Was getting a different brand, but no longer available. This still works, but need to add more to get the malt flavor. Not a major issue, since it was only one I could find. 😉

Works great with bagels. It really brings the flavour to a whole new level.

I use this product frequently because I bake all our breads at home, European/German style. This adds to the authenticity of my self baked bread products.
