8 Classic Albums

I'm surprised that no other review writers here have noticed: disc 4, track 2 should be "Chains of Love", but instead it is "Let Me Sing and I'm Happy", which is repeated as the last track of Disc 4. "Chains of Love" is not in the collection at all.

Brook Benton had one of the smoothest, most elegant voices of his time and the songs he rendered will be remembered for all time. This collection has eight (count 'em) eight of his most remembered LP albums and is a joy to listen to. His low tones in singing many of his sdongs was a trademark that could not be captured by any other artist.

I have always enjoyed this Man's voice, but never until recently have I realized what an accessional voice he had and what beautiful music he created. Our loss because I think had he lived longer, he would have been one of the best. I love his CDs

Great price for albums that are otherwise impossible to find. Typical bargain Real Gone box set with no notes to speak of, but the sound is very good and you can't beat the price.

I liked Brook Benton when I was a teenager. This re-mastered cd is better than the LP I have of him.

An island of great vocals inside the otherwise rowdy world of early American Rock 'n Roll. Class act always!

Brook Benton is an under appreciated American Treasure. This CD set was a bargain. Get to know this great artist, don't let him be lost to time.H

Heard one track by this gent & ordered this collection as a result. Music from another time, great voice & a quality set of CDs. I am 55 & this music was before my time but quality will always shine. Great easy listening & I really like a few of the gospel songs.

A wonderful collection of earlier tracks

Brook Benton was a pop singer in the 1950`s and 60`s., who, while not as popular as Mathis or Cole, to say nothing of Elvis and Pat Boone, still had a number of minor hits, including, "It`s Just a Matter of Time", "Endlessly"," The Boll Weevil Song", all included here.His deep baritone voice, which to my mind was better than the aforementioned singers, covers, in this excellent compilation, spirituals, blues, standards, thankfully no rock and roll. What is missing is his duets with Dinah Washington, but these can be purchased separately. (Dinah Washington and Brook Benton "The Two Of Us").A fine collection of easy listening by a great singer.

Nachdem diese Alben Jahrzehnte lang nicht zu haben waren, ist nun durch die urheberrechtliche Freigabe in England deutlich Bewegung in den Markt gekommen und man bekommt acht vollständige Alben aus der Jahrzehntwende 50/60 zu einem höchst akzeptablen Preis. Brook Benton's Stimme geht mir heute noch mehr unter die Haut als früher, besonders bei seinen R&B-angelehnten Titeln (wie z.B. auf der Lie To Me- LP). Etliche seiner großen Hits fehlen hier noch, sind aber anderweitig erhältlich oder werden vielleicht noch auf einem zweiten Volume auftauchen, zusammen mit ein paar A- und B-Seiten von Singles und hoffentlich mit der fantastischen LP "This Bitter Earth".Sound wie immer bei diesen Veröffentlichungen absolut OK, Ausstattung ebenfalls wie gewohnt dürftig, aber ein Booklet ist relativ teuer in der Herstellung und bei diesem Preis wohl nicht zu erwarten.

Dass bei einer solchen Menge von Songs nicht nur Hits dabei sein können ist ja Sonnenklar. Aber das Stimmvolumen von Brook Benton kommt weniger guten Nummern zu Hilfe und toppt diese.Ich würde trotzdem sagen, nur für absolute Benton-Fans eine Kaufempfehlung.Wer nur seine Hits mag sollte sich die 30 greatest Hits-CD zulegen und wird mehr als glücklich sein!
