One is almost perfect on my snare and two are almost almost perfect
These Snareweights work really well! One is almost perfect on my snare and two are almost almost perfect! I say almost perfect because there is still just a slight bit of ringing left using these, but everything else I've tried dampens the sound or doesn't dampen enough. These are the best of anything I've tried to date. Keep in mind, one gets me 90 percent of the dampening I want and the second one gets me to 95 percent. One fantastic thing about these is they can just flip right up and stay in place with the magnets. And they can stay down and in place when I put my Vic Firth practice pad on my head too. These are very handy. One word of caution, maybe I'm the only one who made this mistake, but take the little paper brochure out of the clip before attaching your Snareweight to your rim. I didn't think much of how well these worked until after I removed the paper! One other little instruction is to hold the leather ends apart when putting the Snareweight(s) down on your rim. Doing this makes it easy to get the right height on the rim for the best dampening. There is a sweet spot with these where they lay best on the rim without being pulled up or pushed up by the clip on your drum head.Yes you can put a lot of things laying around the house on your drums to dampen them, but these almost perfect and are more convenient than all the other things I have tried that aren't Snareweights.Communication with the Snareweight company was fantastic too. They definitely stand behind their product and want to make sure you're satisfied with your Snareweights.Enjoy!

Easy to use. A bigger heavier, version of this would be nice.
I enjoy this product, but I was somewhat disappointed when I first got it. I guess I did not really pay attention to the picture (in terms of the size of the M1), because I thought this would be a little bigger and heavier. I was hoping that this was a cheaper alternative to the 70's insert that is available for the regular snareweight. I wanted something that really muffled the snare drum a lot. This does not. To be honest, I cannot tell a huge difference in the sound of my snare, but my ears are probably not trained well enough to notice smaller differences. I do notice that some high overtones are reduced, but I was expecting almost all of the ring of the snare drum to be reduced (almost like putting a wallet on the snare). This works about as well as moon gels. Maybe for you, this will be sufficient muffling. The ease of changing the settings with this is very nice. The ease of installation makes this a simple add on to a drum.

Awesome!
I had my doubts about the Snareweight given the suspiciously positive reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by how effective it was! I was in the market for a new drum dampening method because people can't seem to keep their hands off my moongels, and the Snareweight seemed like a viable option. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was how light the dampener was. I figured the magnets inside would be heavy to help combat the over-ring, but it was just as light as one might expect a thin piece of leather to be. When I tested it out on the drum, I was shocked at how well it worked. It immediately killed the over-ring on my snare when I attached it to the drum and played it. Previously I had been using a Remo ring, but the Snareweight didn't kill the sound as much and I was very pleased with that. I would recommend this to any drummer!P.S.: For this review, I tested the Snareweight on a Pearl Sensitone Elite Brass shell snare drum.

A great looking design, but fell short against expectations
While the theory and look of these are on point I bough two to try them out on floor toms. Two of these installed one one floor tom do not provide as much dampening as 1 large vater buzz kill. $32 lost to what would have cost me a couple of dollars to stick with vater buzz kills. On the snare the edge ringing is reduced, which is the desired goal, but they don't provide that fat 70s tone that a little more dampening will get you. Overall if you have a ton of money to buy a bunch of these you might be happier. Personally I will not but any more of these at this price point.

MOST AWESOME!!
This may be the simplest most useful accsesorie you could buy for your drum kit. I play tons, different tunings, different kits, different sounds etc. I also do tons of sessions where all kinds of dampening is required, from very muffled fat tone to a medium or just a subtle muffling. This device does exactly that!! I purchased one for my snare and upon receiving it I tried it right away on my snare, immediately blown away and ordered two more for my toms. You get 3 levels of muffling which I find to be perfect for dialing in the sound. On top of that the device is built simple and sturdy not a lot of parts which is nice. It can be removed easily if you want to move it around the head or what not. I find it to be excellent for traveling drummers with drums in cases or gig bags. Set it and forget it for my live kits, I like that, no fumbling around on stage looking for my gels. These stay put!!!This will finally replace those costly little gels. Looks solid, sounds great and it just works!!! I will be getting more of these. THANK YOU!!!

you need these
These rule! I'm a sound engineer and carry some of these in my microphone bag to clean up the sound of toms. Really thicken up toms and cleans up the woOOooOOOm WooOOooOOM sounds drummers are always chasing out of toms. I do not own the snare weight yet but i will soon. Would not recommend the M1 for a snare, but will not show up to a gig with out these for toms.Travis

Thin and small to me
It's much lighter and smaller than I anticipated. I honestly cannot notice a substantial difference in tone both positive or negative. I don't think there's enough mass here. Cool idea. I love all the new snare gimmicks coming out these days. This one didn't work for me though.

Does the job and is very inconspicuous
It's ok. I have a very deep 8 inch wood snare and this does an ok job at muffling it. I'd think for a more shallow snare, it would have more effect. I like that it's very compact, permanently clamps to the rim and is NEVER in the way. I haven't yet found the need to fold up the sides - again my drum is deep and very resonant so I keep this thing 100% touching the head at all times.
