Works great for me!!
Great price, quick shipping, and it works great! Plugged in...driver loaded right from the cable and Voila...connected. PLEASE NOTE: All of these cables are made in China these days(shame on us in the USA.....we can't compete....so it's China, or nothing for most items). The totally opposing reviews on this cable and many, many others that I've experienced is due to poor, or no quality control in China. If you get a good one, great, but the problem is that 1 out of 4 can be bad.....I've purchased many cables recently and that is the sad reality. We need the cable, we take a chance....75% are happy, 25% are not. Really lousy odds but that's the state of things today. I'm a musician and still have various cords that I've used over and over, under rough conditions, and they were never defective....you guessed it....they were all made in USA, back in the 60's, 70's, etc....and they still perform today. I hope we can rectify this soon and find our way back to producing goods here. Until then....we are stuck with a big gamble....a loss of time and faith when you have to return 25% of your purchases......it's not the seller, it's the manufacturer! Amazon stands behind products sold through them, so it takes much of the risk out of the equation.....Amazon Rocks and they sell just about everything!! They are much like the old Sears catalog. Yeah, I'm that old.....they used to sell everything(all Made in USA) and back up 100%. Today it's Amazon! Tomorrow...who knows...?

"Bargain" is an understatement
This cable, which is advertised to support 12 channels, comparable to the $40 creative cable -- works great with Windows 7 and LMMS.Construction is much better than I expected given the price, the wires seem decent quality (not too thin like other cheap hardware I've purchased in the past) although the MIDI plugs were a little hard to seat properly in the keyboard, likely attributed to a low-quality connector. Functionality doesn't seem to suffer from this.It was plug-and-play if you don't mind the computer connecting to Windows Drivers database (a pleasant experience with a good internet connection).LMMS was a bit confusing to set up for a first-timer, as the "MIDI" section in the config wasn't the place I need to configure it. Instead, the "MIDI" tab (opened by clicking on an instrument button) in the instrument properties was where the "USB Midi" device was listed. This isn't a fault of the cable though, just worth mentioning for anyone else buying this for LMMS music production. As previous reviews explain, the round IN goes to OUT, OUT goes to IN. This is a silly fall-over from the early days of MIDI, so only confusing for MIDI first-timers, and the instructions provided state this clearly, so kudos to that. The manual provided doesn't explain the "blinking" amber light, but it seems to represent that the MIDI software you are using is properly communicating with the device. i.e. The keys you hit are being recognized by the software, even if you don't hear them yet (see LMMS paragraph above).Since LMMS is free, and this cable was around $5 shipped to the door, the term "Bargain" is a vast understatement. This is a steal and I highly recommend it for amateur music production.I can confirm this works with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 and LMMS as a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). As ebay would say, A++. :)If you are interested in listening to something made with LMMS, search for "Tres Finocchiaro" on soundcloud. We have examples of Piano SoundFonts on a track titled "First Grade Rev. 04" which work great with this MIDI cable. All in all this is a great cable.-Tres

So Far, So Awesome
I recently purchased the cable from Amazon and received it on September the 6th. I immediately ran to my closest MIDI compatible keyboard and plugged it into pro tools to see if there were going to be any problems with the vendor that was selected. To my surprise, not only did the interface-to-USB work, but the response was fantastic. I did this with a keyboard that's roughly 6-8 years old and will be trying it out on one that is about 10 years old very soon (EDIT: It worked great on the 10-year old keyboard). I strongly suggest giving this product a try if you have a keyboard laying around and need a midi controller 'for cheap' b/c there really isn't much to lose. You have to keep in mind that unless you have octave up and down selections on your keyboard, though, your range will be limited by the rage of the keyboard you hook up to, although that can always be edited in the piano roll.EDIT: I am happy to report that after over a year of use, the cable is still working as intended with no noticeable problems. I am running Mac OSX 10.6.8, and my DAW selections include Pro Tools HD, Garage Band (yuk), Finale 2009, 2011, and 2012 (and it works for all of them), Logic Pro, and even Digital Performer 7. Remember, sometimes you have to select your keyboard in the preferences. So far, this has been one of my best investments for music production.Overall, I recommend this product to people with a budget who need to hook a midi controller to a computer via USB and there are only MIDI IN and OUT ports on the back. All you do is hook the 'out' to the IN and the 'in' to the OUT and load your library; the rest is rudimentary from there. Keep in mind, though, that there are programs that require you to set the controller in the preferences, but that shouldn't take any more time than a few clicks or a google search for instructions. I will keep products like these in mind for the future. Considering the money I saved this time, it certainly seems worth the research
