IRH Equi-Pro Helmet

Ok, finally, I found the helmet I want. My head is actually “in” the helmet. I have tried lots of other helmets and they look like they are sitting “on” my head. I ask my husband how they look and he laughs because they look like they’re just on top of my head with lots of space between the helmet and my ears, which make me appear to have a long head. I ordered a M/L and it fits perfect. Yes, as another reviewer said, it does come over the top of my ears, but it is fine. I love it, it actually looks like a helmet should look on someone’s head and is very comfortable, too. I am so happy with it. I love the matte finish, it gives the helmet a quality look and it is lightweight. . I’m 5’3” and my head is on the round side,I have short hair and my ears are flat to my head. If you have a low or narrow forehead, this helmet would not be for you because the helmet would probably come down to or over your eyebrows.The chin strap is great, easy to adjust and comfortable. The fit adjuster is nice and takes nothing away from the comfort of the helmet. So , if you want a protective helmet that actually leaves room inside for your head, this is a home run.

I'll admit that I wanted a much more "bedazzled" helmet than this, because I did not want to get that "big head" look. Additionally, I'm pretty averse to wearing helmets in the summer anyway because I once got heat stroke while riding with a helmet on, despite due diligence with hydrating, staying cool, etc. However, this helmet, though plain, looks very good on - I'd even wear it in a low-level or local show without ANY second thoughts regarding my appearance. It's a low-profile helmet and very light. Also, I wore this over our first 90-degree weekend in Central Texas and I didn't regret it - the ventilation is perfect and the lining does not inhibit the cooling at all. The sizing seems to be spot-on, but the helmet is adjustable, which I really appreciate. I like this helmet so much that I have determined I will not be riding my new colt without it. IRH has converted me to a religious helmet-wearer and my mom appreciates that!As a side-note: my biggest concern in ordering this helmet was whether it would work as both an "every day practice" AND as a lower-level/low-rated show helmet. In my opinion, this helmet is perfect for just that - it is not a "beginner" type helmet, but it certainly is versatile. You might eventually want a nicer helmet for higher levels in dressage, working equitation, breed shows, etc., but this one is great if you need an easily-cleaned and high-value helmet to start showing colts or to enter your first shows/events without investing too much.

I wish I could say I love this helmet the way I do my Ovation Deluxe Schooler. Similar in weight (very light), similar ventilation, great color, and an upgrade to a leather-like vinyl over the ears instead of the all-nylon harness of the Ovation (though mine is a few years old now, and that seems to have changed in the current model). Neither helmet is ideal for my long oval head, but they get the job done, and the dial fit helps everything stay where it's supposed to.Unfortunately, even though the S/M IRH fits my head size, the IRH is much too deep and the helmet ends up sitting on my ears — which would drive me crazy in 0.5 seconds. So it's back to my Ovation for now. The Ovation is a smidge too shallow to be ideal (there's a little TOO much space above my ears), but I'd rather that than have my ears hurting.Bottom line: If you don't usually have a problem with riding helmets being too deep for your head, you might love this IRH. Otherwise, try the Ovation Deluxe Schooler.

I've worn Charles Owen for decades but when mine fell and cracked I was having a hard time swallowing the price tag. I was looking at oneK which really aren't any cheaper and then decided to try this one bceause I could return it and it was just over 50 bucks. I figured I don't have a show any time soon and I need to protect my noodle so as long as it wasn't huge it would work. I was VERY SURPRISED by how nice this helmet was. It looks as nice as a GPA when they are sitting side by side. The adjustble knob is very discreet. I am beyond pleased that I bought a helmet that looks this good and has all the safety features as one hundreds of dollars more.

I bought this to use with my trike for exercise. I measured my head as they recommended and I sized at the top of the small and the bottom of the large. I purchased the small, since I usually need a child's or adolescent sized hat. Even using the widest width, the helmet barely fit my head. It is snug, but not horribly uncomfortable, but I would not want to wear for an extended length of time. I'm not sure if the large helmet, sized to the smallest degree, would have worked better, but I do know that I have a smaller head circumference than most adults. Either way, I'll keep this and only use it when riding my trike.

Caution to buyers--be sure that Vir Ventures is not the seller for your helmet. Look at their seller reviews before purchasing! You may end up like me, with a lot of wasted time with a return attempt and absolutely no refund.Helmet itself--I liked the look of this helmet a lot. Matte navy is a nice color. The M/L fit my head well, except the part that goes over your ears was oddly low. I read this in a previous review, but was thinking I would just return the item if it did not fit well. This issue made the helmet very uncomfortable--with the heavy part resting right on top of my ears.

DO NOT BUY THIS IRH Equi-Pro Helmet:The Chin strap (left side) is very small and does not adjust at all. This results is, the strap will not cover the ear on the left side. This is VERY uncomfortable and poorly designed, I had a few different (experienced riders) looked at this helmet as well, its a significant design issue. Also, the venting is minimal, much less than other riding helmets.Don't waste your time or money on this helmet from IRH... poor design!

I have a long oval head so I was worried. It still rocks back and forth a bit, but not as much as other brands.

Es un casco con excelente calidad por afuera como por dentro. El sistema de ajuste que tiene permite un tamaño perfecto. No le pide nada a cascos de 2 mil pesos.

Esta muy chico. A una persona que tiene la medida de 60 cm de circunferencia en la cabeza no le quedó y supuestamente es de 57-60cm. Yo pedí el chico-mediano para mi por que soy de 54.5 de circunferencia pero este grande me quedó bien, el otro aún no llega pero no creo que me quede.
