The second book in the new action packed John Hawk western series.
As longtime fan of the American western genre I have read most of the Custis Long, Deputy Marshal Series, numerous James Cameron western novels and countless other western stories over the years. I recently came across this new western series on Amazon and purchased 3 of the books in the new John Hawk series. I just finished reading volume 2 (No justice in hell: A John Hawk western by Charles G. West) and loved it.In this 309 page paperback western thriller we find Hawk being assigned to locate his Blackfoot friend, Walking Owl and try to convince him to bring his tribe into the Army camp for relocation and safety; however, he knows this mission has zero chance of success. Once Hawk finds the Indian camp he finds out Walking Owl and his young braves went into the mountains and left the women, children and old men at the camp and they will not come to Fort Ellis and the reservation. He figured this would be the case.On his way back Hawk runs into a wagon with 3 women and this is where the story begins to get interesting. He decides to help the women get to Helena because there is the danger of Sioux war parties in the area. To further complicate things one of the women’s brutal husband and his gang may also be after them. As it turns out Hawk winds up dealing with three vicious murdering thugs who come after the ladies.Needless to say, unlike some reviewers I never give away too much information when reviewing a novel. If you like action packed well written westerns with great heroes and vicious killer villains you will enjoy this John Hawk series.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Tactical Principles of the most effective Combative Systems).

Intriguing
Until this book, I'd never read Mr. West's writings before. He's a very talented writer and I thoroughly enjoyed this book, from start to finish.

Awesome ending
I won't do a total spoiler but I'm tickled at the justice of the ending.I am extremely fond of Hawk and hope there will be more books about him.

No Justice in Hell
This story reads like a promissory note, its promised satisfaction still a little out of reach when come due. In between, is the foreseeable actions that make the reading worthwhile.

Good western
My first read by this author. I thought the story was good, not over the top but believable. Rugged hero with honorable character and determination. Side journeys along the way which reinforce his character. Some dumb bad guys and one really bad one but none live to be in another story. I will look forward to reading another one of his books.

Worth Reading
John Hawk seems like he had a personality transplant since book 1. He is now more talkative, smiling and joking. While on a side job for the U.S. Army ( usually he scouts for them), he encounters three women stranded and running from something evil. Since they looked pretty helpless, Hawk lends them a horse and offers to lead them to wherever they’re going. The story had a good premise, but in his hunt for the evil outlaws, he does meander all over Montana. It was very hard to keep track (no pun intended). Not being from Montana myself, I had to look at a map to orient myself. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book.

Good read
I really enjoyed this book. It's nice and light but very entertaining. And I always like following a hero from book to book
