DIMPLEXMorgan Electric Fireplace Mantel (Model: C3P23LJ-2085CO), 5118 BTU, 120 Volt, 1500 Watt, Charcoal Oak

So, I always read the worst reviews and the best, and the rest. I like to know what I'm getting into. Well, the overwhelming majority of people like the quality and design of the Dimplex C3P23LJ-2085CO Morgan Electric Fireplace Mantel. However, it seems quite a few of them arrive with the wooden (MDF) cosmetic fireplace mantle itself damaged upon delivery. Look for yourself. I read more than a few of them and thought, "Take the chance", most likely mine will be okay and I'll be very happy with the purchase I bet."Well, look at the pictures I provided. This is what it looked like AFTER I tried as best as I could to just push them back together. In addition to being "pulled apart" and having a cracked veneer (Visible in the 3rd picture) also the wood screws used to hold it together are about a half inch too short so 4 or 5 of them ripped out when the rough shipping occurred and the unit pulled apart. Also 2 of the three sheet metal screws that attach the electric unit to the mantle were pulled out and stripped too (not pictured, but I should have taken some).Anyway, where does that leave us with this review? Do I recommend it or not? Why 2 out of 5 stars? The look and weight (heavy in a good way) and quality and size are all perfect, like many said in the positive reviews.The reason I had to give it a negative review in the end is that my final take has to be that the packaging for such a heavy unit should be waaay more re-inforced and just plain stronger. Is it ruined upon shipping for (in my guess) quite a few people because of this? Most likely. Read some of the other reviews and see. Do you want to chance that you'll either... get a great new electric fireplace out to the box and be super happy, or... instead you'll be all excited (like I was) that it finally arrived, then see that the box is pretty mangled on one side and open the box with a sickening feeling that their could be damage (like I feared before purchasing), and then finding the damage (in multiple places) and then thinking, "Oh jeez, now I need to get the model and serial numbers and call the company and wait on a phone tree and see what lame solutions to this they offer and how long it it going to take and what a headache... etc"?Anyway, that's your options. I love it but luckily I'm an ex-carpenter and will do all the repairs and wood-gluing and putting in better screws and straightening of the bent part and trying to work the crack back together, etc. How good are you with a screwdriver and hammer anyway?The end!S

Everything, including shipping, was great. The only issue was that the included remote control for the unit didn't work. After attempting to replace the battery without luck, I placed a call to the manufacturer. To my surprise, an actual human being answered. He was very courteous and understood my situation. He said he'd mail me out a new remote via USPS...a week later it arrived and works as it should. This is the type of support lacking nowadays!....hat tip to this company for making a great product, and more importantly, following up post-purchase with customer service that once was a common theme in our society and a remembrance of days gone by...thank you!Keep up the great work!

This is basically a Dimplex fireplace unit installed in an MDF cabinet. There are two users manuals, one for the cabinet, and the other for the fireplace. The cabinet has what IKEA would call a "foil" finish, which is photo printed paper, so you can forget about staining it a different color. You might be able to spray paint it, but I would definitely remove the fireplace unit first. Which wouldn't be hard to do, because it's held in place by two long angle brackets and a few screws. I purchased mine from Warehouse Deals, and apparently it wasn't repackaged properly, because it arrived damaged. As you can see in the photos, the top angle bracket completely tore loose and took a big chunk of the MDF with it. I think what happened is some of the large foam shipping blocks came loose inside. I contaced Amazon and they gave me a partial refund, and fortunately the fireplace still works. The "fire" doesn't look "real," but it's still mesmerizing to watch. The logs glow red, and the illusion is so well done it's like something you'd see at Disneyland. It's been too warm here to run the heat, but I'm sure it works well, too.

This is just what we needed when we enclosed our screened porch to keep it warm in winter.

This was the perfect size for my space (it's smaller than it looks in pics, so be sure to measure your space) and it looks great - a combination of modern and rustic. The heat output is impressive and the faux flame is lovely. However, it arrived with one of the wheels broken and the plastic the wheels are made of is probably the flimsiest I have ever seen. I reached out to amazon for a replacement wheel, but they said it's not possible. I am keeping it anyway because the benefits outweigh the broken wheel issue at this price.

We wanted this to provide heat in our small TV room, that is 15 x 15. It would have been excellent if the cord was longer! We only have one 3 prong outlet in that room and the cord doesn’t reach it. You cannot use an extension cord with this!! So disappointing. Have to send it back. It looks cute in the room. Nice dark gray color. It’s definitely for a small room because it’s pretty small. It would look lost in a big room.

The media could not be loaded.  Better than expected! Strong enough to hold me TV for the last 3 Months. I use it as primary heat in front of house and it does the job and is very pretty! I'm happy with my warmth for the feet and the eyes!❤

We have this is our bedroom and it looks great! We turn it on in the winter before we go to bed and it puts out a lot of heat!

This item is a nice alternative to the wall-mounted electric fireplaces and it's quite attractive but it was delivered by UPS with the box ripped open. Later we discovered two cracks in the front of the mantel which we'll need to repair somehow. It looks like the box was not handled with care during the delivery.
