Bruce as consummate storyteller!
I wasn't quite sure what to expect here. I had heard the hauntingly beautiful songs already, but I couldn't imagine what in the world a movie would bring to the fray. I watched this the first day it was available...been awhile now! Forgot about posting a review. Well, I do not know why I would ever doubt my Mr Bruce Springsteen's ability to pull it together and smack it right out of the park, the square, the city!! This features Bruce doing this show for a group of family and friends in a huge, 100 year-old barn that he had renovated on his NJ property. Tucked neatly behind The Master is a 30 piece orchestral grouping of brass, winds, reeds, keys and a few others. The ever-present and wonderful wife, Patti Scialfa, backs vocals in a quartet of lovely ladies. The theme is sort of familiar; aging, love, loss, loneliness....it is about life as it gets older around us. Some of these 13 songs are some of his best in a while, just the time and subject and placement making it so. Not since The Rising album has a group of his songs touched and affected me so much. "Tucson Train", "Sundown", "Western Stars", "There Goes My Miracle", "Drive Fast" and "Chasin' Wild Horses" are some of the true highlights. "Moonlight Motel" was enough to open the floodgates for me. The raw emotion Bruce is able to not only deliver, but elicit from his fans is truly here in droves. There was another absolute gem here, which I was so happy to hear.... "Rhinestone Cowboy", by Glen Campbell, retooled by the Boss. What a great choice! All in all, I would recommend this to anyone who is even a casual fan, but for those of us that are dyed-in-the-wool, deep down, true believer type followers, Western Stars is an absolute must-watch, and I plan to even buy a Bluray copy eventually. This is just too good to not always have it nearby.*The soundtrack is also available.

One of our favorites!
My husband and I love this movie. We saw it when it was shown in theater and when we got the chance we bought it. The orchestra and Bruce Springsteen you can’t beat it! It’s amazing and definitely worth watching. I grew up listening to him and this is one of his best performances.

Underrated Album
I am not a Bruce super fan, but the body of work on this album is outstanding.

A must see for every Springsteen fan!
A feast for your senses. The raw beauty of the desert and Bruce draw the viewer in deeper and deeper for an intimate glimpse of his messy life adventure.

Bruce is Obviously the Best
It's funny to think that in 2019, Bruce Springsteen released one of his best albums but Western Stars is just that, a sad, ruminative reflection of aging that is as beautiful and stirring as any music he's ever created. The Blu-ray of the Western Stars concert, with the orchestra in Bruce's barn, shows just how magical the music is and with added layer of that orchestra, the songs are even more stunning, more emotional and more lovely. And yes, when I first saw the Western Stars film in the theatre, and the music from "The Wayfarer," my favorite song from the album stirred up, it brought tears to my eyes. Since Springsteen didn't tour this album, this Blu-Ray is essential for any Bruce fan. It is beyond great.

Breathtaking visually!! The surround mix is as good as it gets!
Just got this today. It looks and sounds amazing. Much better than it was in the theater. I had to have it, as I believe this, like some other Springsteen releases, will become unavailable and will cost an arm and a leg on bidding sites. I hate to point out one obvious thing, tho. Beware.. This IS expensive and there are NO EXTRAS, NO MENUS, and NO liner notes.. It appears that this was just rushed out in a limited run without a lot of fan fair or advertising. However, IF you want an amazing experience, this is a must have, even at the higher than usual Blu ray price.. Any other artist, and I would have felt cheated, but this is simply a masterpiece.. Grab one while they are still around!!

The Boss knocks it out of the Park once again
I purchase this for my husband being that he is in a lifetime bromance with Bruce Springteen. I tell my friend every weekend it me, my husband and BRUCE. In fact when we were at the hotel over new years, I told people at my table that I here with my husband but Bruce is waiting in our room for us. It's the three of us everyday. As for the movie they really didn't promote this very much, for any BOSS lover it is a must have. You will not be disappointed. It is sharp, breath taking and it moved my hubby to tears.

Magnificent
Beautiful music, beautiful pictures, beautiful philosophy of life from a man who, unlike so many others, has learned from experience. The scenery, the horses, the barn, the 30 piece orchestra along with magnificent, poetic songs of learning from & savoring life's experiences; the whole package is magnificent; it is the crowing jewel of Bruce Springsteen's career. It cannot be recommended too highly; it is an absolute work of art.

Mixed feeling
A relatively short movie from Bruce - 84 minutes - including Bruce commenting or introducing tracks as well as the outro [music to Bruce and Patty talking while a guy mopping the floors]. Nice footage of the region out west.Great music but note that there is no stereo track - just 5.1 Dolby Digital and Dolby Atmos. No extras.

he really is "the boss"
springsteen clearly doesn't do this for the money. this is an artist's artist. as relevant as he was in the 70s. a fertile imagination. the power of the song. but these are not pop songs, despite the insistent hooks and unforgettable melodies. these are stories that reach deep into the soul of america. the human soul of america.

Excellent documentaire/musique
