Works great!
I am a professional electrician, and I advise everyone who wants to make a cheap insulation measurement. Switch 5000 volts immediately. This will allow you to make sure that everything is fine.

Good bargain
It works. I’ve shot some pretty decent size transformers, a lot of copper and still tested accurately when compared to a much more expensive name brand. I’ve tested using both 5kV & 500v. One flaw I’ve noticed is if you turn the dial too fast the screen doesn’t come on. Weird, but be gentle when turning it on and it works every time.

Great value
I purchased this mega ohm meter for 1 specific project. It worked great. And for the price I’ll keep it on hand for future projects.I used it to test my under floor heat cablesPrior to installation. It is a very specializedTest. Other instruments sell for upwards of $300. Plus

QC is lacking.
Low quality but it works... Just be careful and make sure the "Test" button returns to the off position.. I got zapped because the button was off centered in the hole and stayed on after I released it. I returned it and bought a Supco. SMJ 23

A good deal for occasional use
It's an adequate meter, and worth having on hand for occasional use. I never saw it read completely open, and had to rely on the light to indicate continuity. I used it to diagnose a motor that wasn't reading as grounded with my 9v meter, and this picked it up. I'm glad I have it, but it's not a regular use tool.

Didn't last for more than one use.
I bought this insulation tester in June 21st 2021. I used it one time and after using it I pulled the batteries and put it away. I needed it August 18th 2024 . I put new batteries in and it was totally dead.Yes I checked the batteries and the polarity . I took it apart to see if there was a fuse blow or anything burnt. There was neither. Personally I wouldn't by another one but maybe you'll have better luck.

Good for price
Good product for the price, it’s bigger than a fluke 😳

great for testing leakage between wires or to ground
Megaohm Meter 1000V, Digital Insulation Resistance Tester 1999 Counts Megohmmeter Big LCD Display DCV ACV Megaohm Meter DC250/500/1000V AC750V, 200MΩ~2000MΩ Resistance. The meter is well made although it is constructed using a very cheap looking plastic. The top of the meter has a cover to protect the face of the meter. It snaps in place and is easy to put on and take off. I do wish the cover was larger or had a place to store the cables. There is no included pouch or case so your cables are stored loose beside the tester. The operation of the tester is easy. The ranges are designed for measuring dead shorts or for measuring leakage. The leakage test is done by adding high voltage to the conductors. I have had lots of name brand digital meters that couldn't do high voltage leakage tests, but not a mega-ohm insulation tester. I am happy to finally have one and it seems to work pretty good for anything I have measured so far.

Bulky and light, works
Was a bit confused at first as I expected this to be an ohmmeter. But the ohmmeter only goes up to 2kohm. After reading up on it I was able to get it working and tested with saline water. From that I can say it works decently for its intended purpose. Although the resistance fluctuated a bit by 300Mohm, the water was also moving though. In terms of build, it's very bulky, being almost double the size of some others I've seen online. And it's also very light, leading me to believe they could've made it smaller. And of course, there's no sign that this meets safety standards and especially cautious when working with high voltage. If you know the risks though, it seems to work well. Suitable as a hobbyist equipment
