Initial Thoughts after Configuration
After receiving this today I installed an SB-ROCKET-2TB NVMe and ran a quick Blackmagic speed test. Installation was as easy as it gets and the build quality feels good. While I haven't extensively tested this unit yet, the copper heat sink appears to contact the chipsets well and conduct decent heat transfer. Again, I haven't tested this yet extensively and will update as needed, this is only my initial feedback. Using Blackmagic's Disk Speed Test utility I am seeing 2,239MB/s writes and 2,436.5MB/s reads when transferring 5GB on an exFAT formatted file system. Test was done on my 2018 MacBook Pro (15-inch) running macOS Catalina 10.15.6. Specs for the MacBook Pro are: 2.9GHz 6-core Intel Core i9, 32GB 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM, and Radeon Pro Vega 20 4GB. While not seeing the full potential of the NVMe, I'm satisfied with the speeds I'm seeing. I need to further test the reliability of Yottamaster's implementation of the JHL6340 Controller (Alpine Ridge Launch Date: Q2'16) with no USB fallback. I'll update this once I've had more time using this enclosure, but that's a quick glance for now.

Almost perfect but very unreliable
I've been reluctant to buy external case and install your own SSD drive. I have 2 Samsung T5 and one T7. They work good but I need much faster drive to use with my Mac Mini. After searching and reading a lot of reviews, I decided to buy Yottamaster case.It looks good, installation of drive went easy. Not about the speed. I was able to get 1800/2300 by using PNY 2Tb SSD. It is less that the drive capabilities, but acceptable. If you want full speed you need external case with external power, so getting this speed from bus powered case is very good. Now to the problems.- Getting real hot while transfering data. Hope internal components won't degrade over time- During tests speed dropped to 500/500 MB/s which is not very good for case witch the price of 1Tb Samsung T5. I have sent email to YottaMaster support asking what can be done to avoid speed drop. Will update review after I get response (if any)01/05/2021 - Additional.Device is very unreliable. Speed can be vary between 500 and 2500 even when not as hot as it can be. Support not exists. I think it will be better to avoid this product if you cannot reach support service01/09/2021 - Returning 5 starts! I just tested this enclosure on my MacBook Pro Core i9 and found that speed is at max and never drops! So we are having a problem with M1 based Mac devices! Which is not good at all!01/10/2021 - Spent 30 minutes on tests and found that even on Intel based Mac is has same behavior. Very unreliable speed :(

Poor build quality; Can't close lid
My NVME is a total of 2.7mm including the .4mm layer of metal on top. I can't get the sliding lid to close. It scratched up the NVME's metal top layer when I tried. I used a razor knife to take the sharp edges on the iside of the lid. Still couldn't get it to close. Even if I could, I'd be disappoint by how much the PCB rattles in the case and how much NVME latch rattles in the PCB. I added a silicone washer to the latch screw so the latch couldn't damage the NVME. In that same photo you can see where it looks like they used a power tool to put the screw into the wrong hole. So many flaws.

Do not purchase it with Western Digital SN550. It can break the SSD.
I've tried with the other Thunderbolt model of Yattamaster and had the same problem as this one. I don't know if WD SN550 is peculiar model which thickness is different from the other model, but the lid was not closed smoothly. When you tried to close by pressing the lid a bit, I felt it can break the SSD. The heat dissipation copper pad looks too thick and not designed with margin enough to hold the SSD. The material was good even though the tested speed was bad comparing with the other Yattamaster model. Especially, the writing speed is almost half. The file system is APF without encryption.

Nice and wonderful Case
No tools needed. No little, tiny screws to drop. Aluminum case that radiates heat very well. It fits in your pocket and the USB cable is of decent quality and it stays inserted. Tiny blue light lets you know it’s working.

This thing gets super HOT
With a Samsung 960 Pro 512gb connected through an asus thunderbolt 3 EX card on an asus Prime x299 deluxe motherboard this enclosure allowed my SSD to read 2300 MB/sHOWEVER I could only get 512 MB/s WRITE

Awesome Performance
This enclosure is exactly as described. Works flawlessly too. Fast data transfer since it’s a Thunderbolt 3 interface. Does get a bit warm, but that’s the SSD not the enclosure

Gets hot to touch
The speed is nice but not get true TB3 speeds (getting just of 2k) and I dot like how hot the case gets from touch reading 91 degrees so wish it had a fan in the case. But still works great.
