1: segmented is easier than the non-segmented rod. especially if your hot water heater is in a confined space with low overhead room.2: i’ve used both: magnesium and aluminum. the aluminum is by far the better element. effect was immediate and so far it has lasted 3 times longer (and still going strong).If you have well-water, do yourself a favor. take 15 minutes and replace your sacrificial anode rod with this aluminum one. enjoy non-smelly water immediately.Yes, it works immediately.

Works as discribed. Built quality is excellent.

Fit perfectly. 3/4 threads. 1 1/16 nut. Removed old with a breaker bar. Installed this same in reverse per instructions. All in 10 minutes

The product came as described and worked well for my application. Removing the existing who knows how old anode rod proved to be a challenge. It ended up requiring a 1/2" impact and many attempts before finally breaking lose. This is the only reason for the 4 star rating for installation. As noted in title, it was the instant result we were looking for.

If you're on well water and your hot water smells like sulfur or rotten eggs then this is the cure! The zinc in the anode rod kills the bacteria that's present in your water that causes the rotten egg smell. You can thank me later!

After twenty years of enduring smelly hot water from my well water that I was told was due to the high iron content, I was so pleasantly surprised and shocked that the solution was such a simple fix as replacing the anode rode for a aluminum rod. So simple to install. I drained my Giant brand water tank, used a 1 1/4” socket with a socket gun to remove old decayed anode, installed flexible aluminum rod and done in about 30 minutes! No kidding, my water is 90% better then before!!!

It arrived sooner than expected. It protects the liner of my water heater without the "rotten egg" smell.

We only have about 26 inch clearance above the heater.So one piece style would require draining fully and then disconnecting all the piping and then tilting the whole thing enough to insert the new one. I've used an Impact Wrench to get the old one out, used thread sealer & torqued the new one in at 85 Ft/lbs. No leaks. No problems.

easy to install. not sure about water smell yet . will update after some.steady use

Waste of $$.Doesn’t work at all and can’t return after it’s been in the tank.
