Good summer read.
OK, I like the Templar series. I like the way Christopher writes. I liked Holliday's cousin. She is the impetus for the entire series. I do not like the way Christopher has begun to write her. I find her, as the series goes on, to be nothing more than a whiny 8 year old. Why he has begun to write her this way is beyond me. I have gotten to the point that I cannot stand her. And, evidently, neither can Holliday nor Christopher. Which, I guess, is the reason for the ending.Maybe he will "redeem" the ending with the next book. But I have to tell you, if he can it will be the miracle of the century. As to the book itself, it is fast moving, interesting and I found all the characters to be on point with regard to the "roles."I am looking forward to the next book in the series to see if Holliday and the other characters are "redeemed."This is an excellent summer read.

Lost City of the Templars Review
I have read all eight books in this series. I love the suspense and action. I enjoy the background history author Paul Chirstopher puts in the books. I sometimes get tired of the use of the f-bomb as I feel the plot lines of these books does not rqire the use of that kind of language. I am looking forward to the continued adventures of "Doc Holiday". I was, however, sorry the author decided to kill off Peggy and Rafi.I am also reading the adventures of archeologist Finn Ryan in Christopher's other series. The action and adventures in these books are also great.

Not quite up to par
I randomly picked up "The Templar Legion" at a Wal-Mart a few years back. After reading through it I was hooked and dove head first into the world of John "Doc" Holliday. I quickly bought up the first four books in the series (Templar Legion is book five)and read them in chronological order. Each book is was engrossing, detailed, and adventurous, it left me wanting more. In fact, if I could give one flaw to the series, it is that the books are TOO engrossing to the point where I wait a year for the next installment to come out just to read it in a few days and play the waiting game again. The same thing happened to me here between "The Valley of the Templars" and "The Lost City of the Templars". Unfortunately I found myself a bit disappointed with this installment of the Templar series. The focus is mainly supposed to be fixed on Eddie and Doc, as it was in the last two books, with other good guys and bad buys mingling in the main story. There will be character offshoots here and there, as there were in the previous installments. I feel "The Lost City of the Templars" seriously deviated from that way of writing. I felt a lot of time was wasted on characters and arcs that did not matter. There were characters that countless portions of chapters were spent building up, only to be slaughtered later on without much fanfare. Also it is a bit late in the game to be introducing so many new characters. Will they have an impact on later books? The ends to many arcs in this book simply did not match the means. Doc and Eddie were just a part of the bunch as opposed to the main focus similar to previous installments. For me the greatest travesty of this book was the lack of insight into the next installment of the series that is usually at the end of each book. I searched online and could not find anything on a 9th book in the Templar series. I certainly hope there is on as, despite what this book lacks, it still furthered key story lines and added some interesting plot twists. I would recommend the entire series to anyone, and if you happen to read this book first, do not let it tarnish the rest of the series for you.

Good quick read!
Good quick read - in the same vein as all previous Doc Holliday stories. Well-written, good plot, thrilling ride!

Doc isn't the only one getting tired.
The tie between the Templars and the story is weak. It seems it has been that way for a while now. At some point in the book Doc says he's tired of the Templar quest and I remember thinking, "Right there with you, Doc."Somewhere along the line I've gotten confused. Doc has the Templar sword and the treasure, so who are these other people that are supposed to be Templars? I thought Doc was the Templar. If you skip the attempt at making this a Templar book, and scan through the meals (I really don't care what everyone is eating - except in the Cuba book. I made that avocado/seafood dish and it was pretty good), the story itself is fine. Instead of having Doc out looking for the other swords, or whatever it is he's supposed to be doing, let's just make him an adventurer. Can't say I'm too happy with the last two people getting killed. (Don't want to give anything away). I like Doc's sidekick. I remember enough Spanish that all the Spanish phrases don't bother me very much. I would rather they weren't in there, but since they are, I'm glad they're in a language I have half a chance of being able to read.I don't want to discourage anyone from reading this book. All in all, it's a decent adventure book.

It was okay
It had an interesting story line. It's very similar to his other books about the Templars. I read it a while ago. They are lost in the jungles and have to escape when they find something. They know if they don't get away they will be killed. Since I read it about two months ago I don't remember too much more, other than it was a good book. Usually anything Paul Christopher writes is worth reading. I have never been disappointed with any of his books and I have read them all.

A great continuation of an enthralling series!
I have been waiting for the next book in the series and Christopher did not disappoint! Although the plot is a bit disjointed at times, overall the book is an excellent read and left me pining for the next book in the series. I would strongly suggest that one read the prior books first as much of the plot centers around events earlier in the series. I truly hope Christopher jumps quickly on the next in the series as I am looking forward to it after the conclusion of this one!

Not recommended
Despite a few not good reviews, I tried this book - I wouldn't mind if it was escapist.I started my reading enjoying it. But after many chapters I started to realize that the author was throwing together different themes to try and make the book appealing. He mixes the story of the disappearance of Colonel Fawcett in the Amazon with a Templar treasure, with the Papacy, with Indians fighting for the environment in the Amazon region, with wicked big corporations, with the Ark of the Covenant and with Jesus Christ. There is not really a plot. Assassins belonging to different organizations are thrown in left and right, characters keep moving around alll over the world, and frequent references are made to happenings in previous books of the same series.I usually hesitate in disparaging too strongly a book, out of consideration for its author. But in this case I say frankly that I will throw it in the bin (I wouldn't like to give it to anyone). I haven't given it zero stars only because this is not possible.

A "Must Read" Book for all Paul Christopher/Doc Holiday/Templar Fans!
I've been waiting for the publication of this book for well over a year. Was it worth it you may ask?My answer has to be a resounding yes! This book was bought as a gift for my birthday on the 24th of January.I started to read it that vey night and finished it on the 26th, less than 2 days later having not been able to put it down. Now I can't wait for book number 9 and hope it won't be another year before we see it on the shelves, although unusually, there isn't a working title or any teaser at the end of book 8 as there has always been throughout the rest of the series.Don't want to rush you Mr Christopher but please finish the next book asap, the suspense is killing me!

recycled
From the start please note that this is purely my opinion. I was a fan of this series but the last two books have been at best poor although they are fiction they should at least be based on some reality this one is not. it pulls widely seperate stories both by location and time and throws them together in a incomprhenisable mix There is no real plot line time line in fact any line.Who do i recommended this to someone that has more money than sense who will not read it but is happy to swell the bank account of both the author and the publisher if this is not you dont buy it

Super read
Super read and would recommend to anyone who likes mystery and excitement with the finding of relics. Have read the other Holliday stories and oh my goodness what a SHOCK at the end of this book. I checked twice to check I hadn't missed anything. I do hate it when you are left like this. I hope it won't be long before next book. Though still can't believe what just happened. If you have read the other books and know the characters you will understand.

Lost city of the Templars
I have read and enjoyed all the Templar books. The characters are an interesting mix, and the main character having a family and very clever friends to bring another dimension to his character. I did not enjoy Peggy in this book as she always seemed to be whining about something, unlike other stories which gave her a far more interesting character. Maybe this was deliberate to lead to the end of the story, but it spoilt it for me, as did the ending. I was left feeling very disappointed and somewhat unsure as to where John Hollidays character is going next. Good story, but not his best book in this series.
