Tool Magic Solution - Rubber Coating Dip for Pliers and Jewelry Tools

I absolutely love this stuff, and I wish I knew about it sooner. I make jewelry and I use this on all my pliers! Before I knew about this stuff, I was scratching off the gold plating of my jewelry whenever I had to use my tools on them. At first I thought I was being too rough, maybe I had to be gentler? But that limits you in what you can really do with your jewelry. My husband said that there must be something out there for this very thing, and this is it! After coating my pliers, I don't get any scratches on my jewelry AT ALL. It even provides a bit of extra grip which is nice when you're working with wires and such.Having never done this before, I was doubtful of the material the first time I was coating my pliers because while the material is wet it looks quite puffy. I thought, how am I going to be able to get in those little tiny areas with pliers that are 2x their thickness? But, don't worry, when the material hardens it shrinks down to the size of the pliers and it'll be like it's not even there. I never had a problem working with jump rings or just trying to hold onto tiny pieces of jewelry with it. Most of all, I love that I can wrap wire around the round nose pliers so easily and not scratch them!It definitely smells like strong whiteout while it's wet, so you'll want to do this is in a well ventilated area. After hardening, there is little to no smell on the pliers themselves.After you've used the pliers for some time, you'll notice the material peeling in the most used areas of your pliers, and at that point you'll want to peel it off and re-coat them. I was really happy with how easy it is to peel it off. Only took about 15-20 seconds per plier to take off with my fingers. Re-coating is super easy, just dip and let harden for 3-4 hours :) If you don’t want to be completely unable to use your pliers for 3 or 4 hours, then I suggest getting another set of pliers, and coat both. Use one set until you need to re-coat, then while you’re re-coating that set, switch to using the other set of ready-coated pliers.Overall: Really great product, super happy with it, and I'll definitely buy it again when I run out.

I’ve known about Tool Magic for a long time but never needed it. Lately I’ve been getting back into chainmail, particularly anodized aluminum. Water ruing the finish on a few pink anodized rings I stopped and placed this order. No marks on the finish at all! Love it! It dries in a surprisingly smooth and thin coating while also being very durable and long lasting. I completed a 24 inch piece of chain and the coating is still going strong! Will order again!

I've never used anything like this before. I dipped my tools in it and let it dry as instructed. I am learning wire art and the wires get messed up. I can see this does protect the wire, but the tools are harder to use, because of the thicker lining on the tool. This could be a learning curve. At the moment, I prefer without the protection and use the nylon pliers more. However, I have other projects in mind that I believe this will do very nicely. I'm not sorry that I purchased it.

Works great on my crafting tools

I am learning wire wrapping, wire jewelery and chainmail. This stuff is great on my pliers, it keeps all of the surfaces scratch free. It's really simple to use. Just make sure you have a well ventilated area, this stuff smells STRONG while it's drying. I typically apply at bedtime and by morning they are ready to use again.

I use this product with my jewelry making. I keep one set of pliers coated so that they have extra non-slipping hold. The product is now white which is really nice as it was harder to see when the product was clear. It is easy to see when you need to peel off the old coat (very easy to do) and replace it with a new coat. The jar seems really small but this is only my second purchase in about 15 years so it lasts a long time. There is some drying time involved so I use it in the evening & let the pliers sit overnight. Great product.

I bought this for my jewelry tools that have teeth that might mare wire. Now I'm new to jewelry wrapping, but this stuff didn't really seem to work well. For my inexperienced self, it seemed to interfere with the grip on the wire. And it was chewed up almost immediately.My suggestion? Buy pliers that are smooth. Make sure they say that in the description because even expensive ones often have teeth.

Package came on time. It was a little smaller than expected, but I didn’t pay attention to the size when I ordered so that’s on me. Didn’t matter though, because a little bit goes a long way.I used it to coat some metal on metal clips that were blowing in the wind, causing a loud clanging noise. It did the trick and muffled the sound so it is now unnoticeable. Very easy to use. Takes about 10 minutes to harden enough that it won’t drip. Then I waited 24 hours to add another coat. I coated 4 small eye hooks, and still have almost a full canister left. No frills, great product. Fully satisfied customer.
