It works!
Just purchased a new iPad 7th gen against my will to push a SlingStudio (amazing) video hardware at the house of worship. I wanted the sound desk to be able to use a mouse and keyboard with it. There is alot of tapping depending on what you're doing. The first round it was difficult to keep up. There are MANY of these lighting to USB hubs out there - this one was a great price and with three USB ports - why not?I have probs ten different keyboards and mice at my disposal but we'll just give you a few...Apple is new at this. Windows at least gives you a little bell if there is a new device connected. Nothing in apple. Search "How to use a mouse with your iPad."The only way I could tell if the keyboard was working was if you're in a situation when you're supposed to be typing and the virtual keypad appears - plug in your keyboard and it will disappear and you can type. Easy enough.First, I'm typing on a backlit velocifire keyboard. I love it. The iPad didn't. Tried it without power in the unpowered and powered ports. Nothing. Tried it with power cord in (as shown in pic) in the unpower and powered - no dice. The keyboard with recognize for a second, the keys would light up and then dim - virtual keyboard returned. So... it either drew too much power or not enough.Round two - OLD school dell keyboard. Plug into unpowered port - flawless. Types like a charm, little LED caps lock lights up like a champ. Powered port - no dice. Now for the mice. These will not work unless you turn on the correct settings - see article above. My el cheapo Dragon gaming mouse - plugged into unpowered. Nothing. Plugged into powered. Flawless tracking, clicks like a champ. Love it. This was the reason I purchased it.OLD school Dell ball mouse. Nothing in the powered port - works in the unpowered, but not flawless. It does work well on a PC, but it would lose connection to the iPad randomly. It didn't track well, either. All this could be completely the mouse's fault.I found a solution that works for me. Not perfect, but you have to consider the crazy low price on this thing.

Confirmed - Transfer files to/from the iOS 13 Files App 2nd Gen iPad Pro 12.9"
I have bought (and returned) a few items that claimed to work with transferring files back and forth, but these only transferred within the sandbox of their own app ... and the "files" they "transferred" was photo backups.THIS item actually works! One can use the BROWSE button in iOS Files app, and browse a full directory structure on connected flash drives and hard drives. (My hard drive did need a power lightning source on the backend of this adapter - but it spun upto speed, and I transferred files to and from it just fine.)So, in this review, I am confirming that I can transfer files (PDF, doc, *.py, *.md, txt, image files, etc) in either direction (from/to) the iOS 13 Files Apps on a 2nd Gen iPad Pro with this device.Confirmed ! That's the most important thing to know about this device.

Good Unit Great Company
I bought this before it was labeled Not for IOS 13 if you look at the Bottom it says for IOS 7 through 12 now but at the time I purchased it didn’t . Gotta Love Apple and there security which always seems to Stick you with only Apple Products at 5 times the price and Apple Approved At 4 times the price none of which would be a Problem if Apple would Just get rid of the Stupid Lightning Port but I guess Apple doesn’t Care about there Customers. THIS COMPANY DOES as I said I bought this for my iPhone XS Max and it worked for about a week then surprise surprise Apple sent another iOS Update. When the Phone stopped Recognizing the Lightning to USB adapter I contacted the seller who Gave me a Full Refund no questions Asked I would recommend this Product to anyone running iOS 12 and Below not for 13 and I believe that is now written in the About this Item down the bottom I appreciate any Business that takes the Time to look after all there Customers.

Connects USB devices including thumb drives to iPad Mini
The iPad mini 4 only has a Lightning port, no USB. Some aftermarket adapters will allow you to connect some USB devices, but if the device requires the USB to provide them any power you are outta luck. Not so with this adapter. If you simultaneously plug it into the charger (a lightning port on this device so its the same charger as your iPad) you can use USB devices that require power. The focus seems to be on accessories such as keyboards, mouse, music mixers etc. In my case I wanted to use thumb drives to transfer various files back and forth to the iPad. This thing works like a champ!

Adds lots of functionality to iPad and iPhones
This device works really good for thumb drives and card readers. It also has a port on the opposite side to power your device while transferring files. It wouldn’t power my external hard drive though.

Dubious
At first the charge port seemed to be USB-c. Then i found that it wasn't, but lightning cables don't fit snug in the port and can come loose (on this one at least).Files take a long time to load, could be an issue with the iPad maybe? Not a fan of the printing on the front of the unit.If it works in the long run, i can overlook some of the quality issues.

Useful
I had to send the first one back. It didn’t work at all. The second one works great with my iPad, but not with my iPhone.

Doesn’t Work
I dislike having to ever write a bad review but after reading the instructions over and over again, this device simply will not work. I tried using it via my iPad Mini 4 and my iPhone 7 Plus with two portable hard drives and a USB flash drive. Nothing works and I hope I’m not doing anything wrong but I doubt it. It’s difficult to make a mistake by simply plugging in a portable flash drive. I used data cables that came with my hard drives as well as USB to USB in hope that those cables make work but nothing. When I plug it in to either of my devices, it makes a sound as though it is being recognized but when I look for it through the files app, nothing.

Not Happy
Doesn’t charge my iPad while using. I plugged in my charger while using it and it showed the charging logo however the battery life still went down, all it did was slow down how fast it died. As for the usb plug in they work, but I bought it to use my USB disk drive and even asked other customers if it would work with it which I was told yes and it doesn’t work. So all in all I’m not happy.

Worked great 4 times then died.
It worked well four times and then died all on the day it arrived. This is the fastest means of lightning photo transfer that I’ve tested but after 4 transfers it just stopped working and wouldn’t charge or read any of my attached drives. Wish it was better quality. Returned it.
