Waterside Cottages Hardcover – Illustrated, August 1, 2009

The pictures in this book are mostly a very inconsistent & poor quality, appearing mostly clear and occasionally blurry in their published, minimized sizes. When any of the included pictures are expanded, they all become horribly pixelated and some become barely visible, even despite the expanded size. A few pictures appear to be familiar & possibly stolen from a search engine. The inconstant picture quality makes me wonder if the pictures aren't original to this book... That said, I do enjoy this book.I hope the author updates this ebook with better pictures for viewing on larger screens

Where to begin! The cover indicates that water(and maybe marine animals or at least freshwater fish)plays a big part in decorating one's waterside cottage. If you like the look of the cover, just look at it and move on. It's pretty much the last time you'll see anything like it. Mostly this book is photos of cottages that could be anywhere but mostly in the woods; water is barely acknowledged - some are Victorian pink and ruffled foo-foo and some are 40s-Grandma's-Cabin-In-The-Woods filled w/junk she got at thrift stores or yard sales supposedly artfully placed. Also, there's a "cottage" that's about 4500 sq ft. Yikes! That's twice the size of our 3 bdrm. home! Cottage? Please! Another point many readers might want to know is that, other than a place in Michigan, all the houses are on the East Coast which is ok if that's all you're interested in. The authors are apparently clueless that there's a West Coast full of wonderful (and extremely varied!) waterside vacation houses. We've almost gotten used to the Pacific Northwest being ignored by easterners, but not even one entry from California??? It has about 800 miles of coast plus thousands of rivers and lakes.Bottom line? We didn't like this book; you probably picked up on that! Sent it back the next day. Major disappointment.

I especially wanted this book for the colors and for the fact that 'Saugatuck' Michigan are featured words in the first couple of photos. Im an Aussie whose been to Saugatuck so many times Ive lost count but also, Im a fan of Dan Mayers who did the photography in this book. I met him about five years back in NJ when he was doing a photo shoot at my friend's house in Somers Point.

The cover perfectly fits the contents of this beach décor book. I particularly liked the southern style beach homes featured in here, but If that isn't your thing, keep turning the pages. You will find New England style and Carribean cottages as well. As befitting the cottage style, anyone anywhere can replicate the slipcovered, vintage collected easy style depicted here.

I like the book, nice to have sitting around to pick up and browse through. Some nice ideas. Happy with my purchase.

Wonderful colors but I'm a fraud living in the suburbs of LA no where near the beach only dreaming of it.

This book has the most amazing pictures of beach houses.. The homes are decorated in a way that made me feel like I was at the beach.. If you're looking for creative ways to decorate your home in the "beachy style", this is the book for you.

Was für ein wunderschönes Buch.....voller phantastischer Bilder und nicht zu viel Text. Eine wahre Fundgrube zur Inspiration und Verwirklichung eigener Ideen.
