The Didache Bible: New American Bible, Revised Edition (Hardcover)

It is exactly as described and so informative. I love this bible and am so glad I purchased it.

The Didache NABRE is the perfect Bible for modern English speaking Catholics.The NABRE commentary presents notes that are very historical-literal leaning in their approach, although some are allegorical.In the Catholic Church we have four senses in which Scripture is read: 1) Literal - this is the historical/critical interpretation, and 2) Spiritual, broken into three subcategories A) Allegorical/Christological - how it applies to Jesus Christ and the Spirit mystically, B) Tropological/moral - how it applies to us today and C) Anagogical/eschatological - how it pertains to the end of times / ultimate destiny of man.I think this Bible is perfect, but when you read the intros and notes sometimes you will see an apparent "contradiction" for example in Matthew, the NABRE says Matthew wasn't the writer and it was written after A.D. 70. The Didache note says Matthew was the writer and wrote it before A.D. 70. It is not a contradiction, however, it is simply the method of interpretation the editors used. The NAB interpreters chose to go with literal/historical-critical interpretation, which tends to throw out all outside evidence and rely solely on internal evidence. This method has its pros and cons as does everything else. The Didache note though tends to lean more towards the Spiritual interpretation. In doing so, they take into account not only the internal evidence, but also the external evidence - 2,000 years of millions of Saints, Bishops, Priests, Deacons, Popes, Patriarchs, Cardinals, Monks, Friars, Nuns, and pious laity - who all believe Matthew wrote the Gospel of Matthew before A.D. 70.They are complementary and as with all things Catholic, it is not EITHER literal OR spiritual, it is both literal AND spiritual which we use to interpret Sacred Scripture.

Fantastic explanations, asides and catechesis paired with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I discovered this bible in RCIA. NABRE2 matches the American lectionary.

Wonderful Catholic Study Bible! Definitely worth the extra $10 to get the NAB version as it has a solid 30% more commentary than the RSVCE version. I do appreciate having the Kindle version of the RSVCE and hope the NAB will eventually be made into a Kindle version as well.

First off, if you have the RSV Didache Bible, you’ll be shocked to hear that the NABRE version is EVEN BIGGER, probably 30% bigger. If you are like me, that’s a welcome addition.One of the first things you’ll notice with a hardcover this big is that you may not be able to get the pages to lie flat enough so you can read them easily. My advice would be to do an internet search for how to break in a hardcover spine. It is a slow and gradual process and will take 2-3 weeks of gentle use to get it to where I want it to be. That’s just fine for me but something others may want to consider.

Love the way this Bible explains some of the passages that are hard to understand.

Absolutely gorgeous bible, I love it. I own too many bibles, actually, so my positive feelings about this one are quite conclusive; finally found The One. I highly recommend The Didache for Catholics and Catholic bashers. Can't help but be enlightened and taken in by such beautiful theology, right at your fingertips on nearly every page. What a much needed prescription to more fully appreciate Catholic doctrine through Holy Scripture from an utterly exquisite publication. Thank you MTF.

Has everything you need. Commentaries based on CCC. Font is not tiny perhaps font 8/9 and notes font 6/7 - wonderful if could be larger. Would be even better if words of Jesus is in Red and if wide margin to allow notes or journaling.
