My three-year-old granddaughter LOVES this book. After I had read it to her a few times, she sat down and "read" it to herself, using the illustrations as a guide. The other night when she was exhausted and having a meltdown, she was crying and saying something over and over. Finally, I understood what she was screaming, "I want to read "G is for Grits"! After I handed her the book, propped her up on pillows, and tucked her in with "blankie," she happily read herself to sleep. The choices the author made to exemplify Southern life are both personal and sentimental. For anyone who has grown up in the South and those who moved "up North" or to any other clime, this is an excellent book to acquaint your children with your heritage: from wisteria to tire swings to okra (I didn't know it ended in an "a" not a "y" until I was in college!), from love bugs to kudzu to boiled peanuts. I bought four and have given them to friends and libraries. Every child in the South, and those whose parents have moved away, will LOVE this book. It touches that special spot in each of our hearts that says "Southern home."

Adorable book for a Southern raised child :)

This is a perfectly adorable Southern Alphabet book. Gave as gift to a friend who will soon be a first-time grandmother. She LOVES it.

A great introduction to Southern ways. The rhymed format adds to its readibility. All ages can enjoy this book. I bought it for my granddaughter and have gifted it to others for their families.
