All 5 locks have been working great for almost 45 months now
It was quite easy to replace existing door locks with this Haifuan lock. If you have to drill new holes on a new blank door - that's a different issue that would be applicable to all locks. The most difficult part of the installations was to carefully enlarge the hole on the door frame, behind the strikeplate which the latch enters. This was to accommodate the bigger strikeplate for the Haifuan. I read that some people complained about moisture entering the unit - note that there are gaskets on both the inside and outside parts of the lock, and the buttons are a single piece of rubbery material which should also help seal out moisture and provide some insulation. It does take a bit of hand dexterity to make sure the gaskets were aligned to provide a good seal. We've had 5 of these installed at our daughter's university home (in a cold Canadian city), including one on the front door, for almost 4 years now, and they've been working fine without problems. We are replacing the batteries (with quality batteries) every 2 years to avoid issues with leaking batteries, or lockouts due to depleted batteries - but the locks were still working fine even with 2 year old batteries. The FOBs are great because the residents can unlock the door without taking off their gloves in freezing temperatures. The programmable code system allows you to remove and/or assign individual codes/FOBs if a resident moves out - no need to replace the lock or rekey. I deliberately wanted a lock that would lock automatically, for security reasons - so that the entire house's security is not jeopardized if one person forgot to manually lock the front door. The code system also means that I don't have to drive to the house to replace lost keys.Maybe some people had issues with installation, or batteries, or how they personally like to operate a lock - but this product has been perfect and reliable for our use cases. I would definitely recommend it especially for households with kids or people always in a hurry (or for people that tend to forget or lose their keys).

Exactly as described
This item was exactly as described. Fitting instructions as noted on packaging. Maybe a little tricky for an amateur DIY person. Product works beautifully. Currently installed on our garage side door.

Highly recommended digital lock
This is a very well made lock and so far has worked flawlessly. It does require a couple of extra holes in the door. One high for an attachment screw, and one rather large hole in the center (approx. 7/8" x 2") for the cable to the backside battery pack. The template makes it easy enough to locate these hole positions. I used a 7/8" wood boring bit to drill two adjacent holes for the large center slot. The markings on the template allow you to locate the exact center for drilling. The only other thing is opening the battery cover for the first time. It's not obvious but out of the box the battery cover is secured with a screw. Not obvious because it is small, black, hex head and deep in the small black hole. Didn't look like anything in there. Programming wasn't difficult once you get past resetting the default admin pass code. As others have said the documentation isn't very good but with a little effort you can get past it. Overall I highly recommend this lock.

Wow, Very sturdy lock, Overall Great Quality, Best bang for your buck!!
The media could not be loaded. I was hesitant at first because of the price but I can say that I was very pleased with the quality of this lock, I was looking at more expensive locks because our other lock we had was cheap and stop working. Easy to install but you will need to drill a few holes for install, nothing too major but will need a drill and drill bits to install. Overall A++

Works well outdoors in heat and cold
I noticed that someone didn’t think it would last long in the Canadian winter. I have had one on my house in Canada for many years. I don’t know exactly but at least five years. It has worked great without any problems. I also have one on my house in the Bahamas. This lock is FANTASTIC for short term rental properties. You can generate a timed code that will work only for the duration of a stay. You can also generate a one time code for maintenance works and permanent codes for yourself and property managers. Some owners use ring but it doesn’t work if the power or internet goes out. This runs on battery and does not need internet at the property to work. You do need internet to generate a code. The app is very easy to use. After four years, I am replacing the lock in the Bahamas because the salt in the air has started to corrode it and one number sticks. You can’t really blame them for this. Everything metal corrodes near the sea. Although the code works for the duration of the renters stay, I have key fobs inside the house they can use for the duration of their stay. Fobs are easier and it doesn’t matter if a number sticks. If a fob is lost, it can easily be deleted from the lock. The only issue I have had is with finding fobs that work. It comes with two fobs but that is not nearly enough for a rental property. It uses M1 fobs but not all M1 devices work. I bought several different kinds before I found one that would work and I don’t know why it worked when the others didn’t. I really wanted to give the renters bracelets but the M1 bracelets I bought did not work and I was not able to get extra fobs from the company. It is not difficult to instal except for one step where you have to get one side to feed into the other. That step can be very difficult. Your just have to keep playing around with it to get it to just the right place. Not fun in the blazing Bahamas sun but would probably be an issue with installing any lock.
