Asscom 090-85 Air Vent Car Mount Holder

I have searched high and low for a cell phone holder that attaches to the air vent. After 6 trys I finally got it right with the Asscom Universal Car Air Vent holder. There are several features this one has that the other 6 didn't.1. Only 1 hand needed to get my phone out of the holder. Someone was so smart to put the release button at the TOP of the holder rather than on the side. I don't accidentally press any buttons releasing my phone!2. The part that holds my phone actually stays in place. Others would not stay tightened to keep my Note 3 up. I'm sure the weight of my big phone didn't help but this one does it perfectly.3. The stabilizer bar at the bottom goes straight across. A competitor had the bar that was more V shaped and pressed my CD button when I hit bumps just right. It was a pain.4. No fussy gears that get hung up. On other models I would have to kind of fiddle with the release button and the arms that hold the phone because they locked up. This one has not done that.5. The top bar that actually attaches to the vent is spring loaded and holds tight. None of those little latches that barely grip the vent. This one is heavy duty.I am most happy to recommend this to folks as a great air-vent type holder for your phone. I don't want anything distracting while hanging from the windshield, my gear shift is on the console so one that was stuck in my cigarette lighter wouldn't work well. My CD slot is covered unless the CD button is pushed so that one was not an option either.Try this one. The price is great and so is the product.

A clever concept, nicely executed, and it would probably hold any size phone or tablet. Alas, it does not fit anywhere in a 2016 Toyota Rav4 because in this car the vent fins are too wide. I had planned to clip it to the round vent at the side of the dash, but the thingy that clips onto the vent is designed to clip only to a vent that is not wider than about 5/8 inch. The center vents are narrower, but they are too closely spaced to work well. In all the bending and twisting I did to try to get it to work, I can attest that the plastic is sturdy!So, why 4 stars? Well, I posted a grumpy review, and immediately the product support people emailed me to offer me my money back or a replacement windshield mount. That was very cool. So I asked them for a windshield mount, and it arrived in a couple of days. And I must say I am very happy with it -- it sticks strongly to the windshield, doesn't drop off when I go over bumps and doesn't flop.The tablet/phone attachment thing works the same as the vent mount (they are identical), and I really like the mechanism. When you touch a button in the back, the side wings slide open, and you can simply lift the phone out of the bottom cradle. To reattach the phone, set it in the cradle and press the two wings together. To adjust the bottom cradle, hold in a little button at the bottom. All this means that it's super easy to mount the phone, even where I have the holder mounted in the corner of the windshield. So if I were reviewing the windshield mount, I'd give it 5 stars. The 4 stars here are for the really great customer service. I don't think you'll go wrong doing business with these folks.

I bought two of these, one for each car. My wife has an LG V10 and I have a LG G3. We wanted universal holders so no matter which car we were in our phone would be able to be mounted. The arms on the base were a focus point as our cars' air vents tilt from side to side and the old holders kept swinging the phone side to side. The arms barely hold the phone still. I have a bad feeling the tension will weaken and it will begin to swing side to side fairly soon.The biggest issue is the way it actually holds the phone. The picture shows the side clamps going way out in front of the phone and the bottom clamps also going out in front of the phone. This phone must be extremely thin. My LG G3 has a case on it that I have to take off or else the clamps don't even get half way around and the phone just falls off. My wife's V10 doesn't have a case and the clamps just get to the front edge of the phone and it does stay held in. The design from the outside side of the clamps appear that they should have more of a grip but they just don't. Had I held these in hand in a store I would not have purchased them and do not recommend you purchase them if you have a case on your phone. The G3 case is not an otterbox or life proof or anything crazy thick either. If you have one of those cases it definitely won't fit.I have decided to lower my review from 2 to 1 star based on the company's reply.
