The Potty Train [Hochman, David, Kennison, Ruth, Anderson, Derek] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Potty Train Review: Great book - I read this book to my toddler who loves trains, and it actually encourages him to use the toilet. Great book with a cute story. Review: Wonderful illustrations! Gets toddlers excited to potty! - This book is cute. For any child that loves trains, this is great. It got our toddler (3yrs) so excited she immediately asked to use the potty. The illustrations are super vivid and exciting for little ones. Some of the pictures make the potty less obvious than in other books, but I found that to be a plus because it set this book apart from the other potty books. It also uses what looks like a real toilet instead of a potty seat, which is something I wanted since we aren't using a potty seat. One slight "warning"... When we informed the toddler that we were going to start potty training, she looked around and kept asking "where is it?" I didn't understand what she was asking til later that night when we read this book to her again. She thought we meant we were getting on the potty train. I had to explain that potty training and a potty train were slight different. She was disappointed. lol.

My child loves this book
There are much better educational books to read to your child for potty training. And when I read this I cringed because it's not realistic at all and I hope my toddler doesn't start pooping on train toys... BUT. My toddler absolutely loves this book. He wants to read it all the time. He was pretend-reading it to his toy duck. If your child loves trains, they will probably enjoy this book. I'd recommend for a fun read. Colorful illustrations. Fun little tale.

Great book for the train-loving toddler!
My son, who is going through a train phase, likes this book. I'd like to point out one pro and con. First the pro: This book was written so simply and had short sentences that my son could keep up with my reading it to him word for word, which was great! Books with simple and short sentences seem so hard to come by and this was a pleasant surprise. Also, the corny line "Chugga chugga poo poo!" line made it easy for my son to engage along with me as I read it. Now for the con: Although the pictures in this book are beautiful and quite colorful, it may be a bit overwhelming in the beginning. My son was a bit distracted by other parts of the drawings of this book as I asked him to point out things (like animals, parts of the train, etc.) whereas he wasn't like this with other books prior to this. After a few times reading it, though, he did answer my questions well. Overall, not a bad book! Definitely a gem to read, but can be a little too much the first few times reading it depending on your kid.

Great for potty training
So funny and helped my kiddo want to sit on the big, scary potty.

Effective! My son loves it
My son absolutely LOVES this book! He is 2 years and 4 months. We read it over and over and within a few days he wanted to put on his underwear and sit on potty. It’s been less than 2 weeks and he is going #2 on potty (we also made a sticker chart!) but we found the same stuffed animals in story and put them on their own potties and made a train and it was so fun and exciting for him. Normally, if he is wearing clothes or a diaper, he will not tell me when he goes to the bathroom even though I have reminded him to EVERY day for months now! But, after this book, He even told me one night in bed with his PJs on, that he has to go... and he did!:) he feels empowered by this book because he’s “growing up!” Great book! Can’t recommend it highly enough for someone whose child loves trains:)

Cute potty train book
Good way to introduce potty training. I do feel like my son didn’t really understand the correlation between the train and going to the bathroom. Like “don’t worry if you get off track”. I mean I understood what they did but I don’t think my son understood.
