My First Human Body Book

WOW! What a great book! This will be a perfect companion to our Human Body Unit study. My boys like to color something while they are listening to me teach the lesson...it helps them stay attentive while having something to do with their hands. I'm homeschooling 3 boys at once with this study, and this book is a great coloring activity for all 3 of them, ages 10, 8, and 5, plus it's detailed and descriptive without being too basic or too much!!! And you can't beat the price. I bought only one at first because you couldn't "look inside" it on Amazon, so I wanted to make sure it was school material, but now I just ordered 2 more so each kid has their own book. When they're done, they are going to have a very nicely colored workbook that they can look back and reference with. Great homeschool purchase!!!

Perfect for teaching kids about the human anatomy

This is my second time purchasing this book. I bought it for my older homeschooler and loved it, and I just bought another for my younger student. Clear pictures, easy to understand information, fun to color and learn. Dover books are awesome. They have such a great variety and I love that they are fun and engaging. My kids like them just as much as I do. Highly recommend. Note: Like many people, I rely heavily on Amazon reviews before making almost any purchase, online or in brick-and-mortar stores. I am always honest with my reviews. If I love something, I shout it from the rooftops. And if I hate it, I have no problem telling you that too. This is one of a very large stack of materials I bought to supplement homeschooling curriculums for our daughter for the brief period of time we were homeschooling her. I actually felt it was appropriate for the grade level she was at, which was 3rd grade at the time. While the manufacturer markets it up to age 10, I think that in general, American schools have a bit more of an aggressive science curriculum then they did when I was in elementary school, and I think really third grade is the upper limits of what this is good for supporting. I personally, was pleased with it and thought it did a good job of reinforcing the reading I gave her. My daughter, however, didn't find the pictures enjoyable to color. She likes to color in general, she just wasn't so enthusiastic about this, because she says, she doesn't like to color the insides of people's bodies, only the outside. So, while I think this is a well done coloring book, it may be hit or miss with your kiddo depending on their interests.

I bought this product as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old who does not enjoy reading. This book has really interested her as it has a lot of information about human body and has beautiful and simple pictures to illustrate the same. She loves reading the book and has learnt a lot about human body as well. The plus is she can also color the book!

this book has depth but my son is only three so he isn't ready for all the depth but we have fun looking at the pictures and learning the words for things. its a book that will grow with him.

I got this for my 10 year old, upon receiving it I flipped through the pages to see the illustrations and how the book was detailed. I come to page 12 and see that the larynx is labeled 'voice box', as I continued I got to page 21 and see an illustration labeled 'food tube'!! because esophagus was to complicated? I mean they can put alveoli in there but they can't write larynx or esophagus??! And really, 'saliva makers'!! What was so hard about typing salivary gland instead? Oh my favorite is the 'Food Ball'!! I understand in the text that they use simple explanation's like the food goes down your food tube, and saliva flows into your mouth from the salivary gland, but if you don't label those things correctly how exactly is the child going to know what you are talking about? But they put in the details about nephrons in the kidneys! lol I just can't. Needless to say, I am not giving this book to my child without making the appropriate edits. The illustrations are cartoony and they do not discuss the entirety of the human anatomy but for now I suppose this will do, after some editing. Definitely MORE suited for kids under 10, but not if they are growing up around articulate adults, or if you want them to learn accurate terminology. I gave them an extra star because I intended to return this book and look for something that aligns more with my teaching style, as I am homeschooling, but amazon said I do not have to return the item and will simply issue me a refund. For as inexpensive as this book was, and as appreciative as I am for the simple refund and keeping me from having to go through the return process I suppose I can let my child color the book in and see how it goes from there. Especially after I've made the appropriate edits.

Tenía mis dudas al comprar este libro por la cantidad de hojas. Son pocas pero está muy padre, muy didáctico, a mi hija le encantó y ya lo está coloreando. No puedo decir que sea adecuado para cualquier niño de edad menor a 10 años pero si a tu hijo(a) le gusta la biología y colorear, le va a encantar.

My kids loved this colouring book. It’s got a lot of detail and information. A good conversation starter for anyone want h to teach their kids about the human body.
