A Christmas Carol (Calla Editions)

Poor version of a great book!
I purchased this "unabridged" copy of the Dickens' classic for my 6th grader's literature class. I have a hardback copy at home, but he needed one he could take to school and make notes in. We found entire paragraphs missing, typos, and the table of contents does not list out the separate staves, making it very confusing. My son has tried to use this for school, but it has been too confusing for him to follow along in class, since the paragraphs and breaks don't match up with the books his peers are using. If you are looking for an inexpensive copy of A Christmas Carol, find another option! This one is definitely not a legitimate unabridged copy, and is a terrible option if the book is for school. I am purchasing another copy for my son.

Cheap. Don't bother.
Terribly cheap version of “A Christmas Carol”. Image on Amazon listing looks like bonded (faux) leather with a foil stamp. Wrong! It’s a photograph of bonded (faux) leather with a foil stamp. Listing also touts full-color illustrations. There’s only 6 illustrations in the entire book, and only 2 of them are in full color. I was hoping for a nice keepsake version. This one is not it. Very disappointing. Returned for refund.

FAKE BOOK
This is a pirate book printed on a cheap house printer — a COMPLETE SCAM — and Amazon won’t issue a refund — that’s stealing.

Book is a the poorest copy of a book I have ever seen!
The book jacket has advertising on the inside, Christmas Carol is spelled "ISTMAS CAROL" by "HARLES DICKENS"! The "A Christmas Carol in 4 STAVES! What is a STAVE? It is not a piece of wood or a stanza to a poem per Webster's definition. The printing is sloppy and "Forgotten Books" is now on my list of companies to KEEP AWAY from for any quality book purchases. This was going to be a gift to a child.

Too Good to be True!
Sadly when I received this book, I was disappointed. It is a facsimile as it states but of poor quality. I was hoping for a nicer copy (even the cover title is yellow not gold). If you just want to read, this is a good copy but if you were looking for something similar to the original edition back in the 1800's this is not the book that you want to get. Even the illustrations are not good copies.

Quite nice, but not an exact reproduction of the original
This is a nice version of A Christmas Carol, but I was hoping it would be a more accurate reproduction of the first printing. It has a printed hardcover, but not leather with gilded graphic and text like the first edition was. It also does not have the gilded page edges like the original. The biggest downfall is that the original illustrations are poor quality. Still nice overall.

Poor quality
My review is for the item I received, not the book in general. The pictures of the item are not what I received. The pictures in this book look like blurry photocopies of an original. Extremely cheap product. I bought this item based on the pictures and amazing reviews, but apparently did not receive the same product. I purchased the book as a gift and would be embarrassed to give it. Returning immediately.

The best paperback reproduction ever!
This is best reproduction fo the classic I've ever seen! The illustrations are plentiful and fabulous. The size of the book makes for an absolutely perfect stocking stuffer! And all for under $7! This is so a wonderful gift, especially for the price...the joy this book will give the reader, old and young alike will be priceless! -DDK

Beautiful book which exceeded my expectations 🎄😍❤
This is a beautiful little book which exceeded my expectations greatly. It is just what I wanted, embossed, gold foiled (book titles and page edges), original illustrations by John Leech and original font. Mine came shrink wrapped in cellophane. The sticker on the back came off with a bit of care. I'm so happy with it I bought another for a Christmas gift 🎄☃️❤

Disappointing
Review of A Christmas Carol: With Original Illustrations in Full Colour. Pub: Suzeteo Enterprises.I was looking for a hardback replacement for my battered old paperback edition. This looked like a quality edition from the photo. It isn't.Despite the photo appearance, the cover is completely smooth and cold to the touch. The "gold" is printed yellow. The binding is stiff and looks likely to split with use. The whole thing looks and feels like a school book.Inside, the paper is dazzling white and the print stark black. It is not comfortable to read. For some reason, the publishers have changed the original spacing of the punctuation. Although the original spacing looks odd to modern eyes, it spaces the text nicely, and the modernisation makes the text a bit cramped and seems to change the reading rhythm.I won't be keeping it.I also wanted to review the DELUXE EDITION Pub: Arcturus, which is vastly better and beautifully presented (and cheaper). Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't distinguish between different editions and won't let me post a separate review. The last four photos above are of that edition.

What a wonderful Classic...
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens...!!!Its a Classic fiction Story... which revolves around a person named Ebenezer Scrooge, The man only gives respect to money but no one else...!!!At one point while describing Scrooge, Author writes like this "No warmth could warm, No wintry weather will chill him, No wind that blew was bitterer than he, No falling snow was more intent upon its purpose, No pelting rain less open to entreaty"In this book, A situation comes where Scrooge should meet Three Spirits : The Spirit of past, present and Future. Now the question is whether these spirits able to change the attitude of Scrooge or not and what happens to Scrooge after meeting these three spirits...!!! One should read this book and learn for themselves...!!!Its a wonderful classic... and what makes A Christmas carol Special is - "The Author : Charles Dickens" The way he express the story will leave readers speechless..!!!I Strongly recommend one to buy this book, and the following once...* A Christmas Carol* Animal Farm* The Time Machine* Frankenstein* 1984Note : I bought this book from Finger print publishers, truly speaking this book by finger print publishers is not like the usual one they have published this book with love, I must say love.... because the quality of ages and printing says so...

A fun, festive, feel-good story and my first ever Dickens read...
It may come as a surprise to a lot of people, but this is my first ever read by Charles Dickens. Of course I know all about his work: I know who Miss Haversham is, grew up watching 'Oliver Twist', and what would Christmas truly be without 'The Muppets Christmas Carol'. The last is a Christmas film that really makes me feel festive, but songs aside, I decided to see how close it was to the actual original source, and whether that would give the same kind of feeling! The short answer is: yes! I was surprised by how many direct quotes I recognised and this is definitely a festive story, to be enjoyed at Christmas time. I've decided through this small glimpse of his work that Mr Dickens had a WONDERFUL sense of humour and a gift when it came to writing. I was totally engrossed in the story! I meant only to load it up on my Kindle ready, but ended up reading the whole thing quite by accident! Even better, there really are some wonderful messages here, buried deep if you know where to look. For example, this is probably one of the best portrayals of female characters with ACTUAL PERSONALITY I've seen written by a man in the Victorian era.As with all Victorian novels (thanks to the 'paid by word' rule for serial writers, or so I'm told) this is pretty wordy and repetitive at times. However, as I've said, Dickens was pretty brilliant in his method and there was almost a self awareness about this and he turned it into a humorous joke. I didn't find it irritating like I usually do, that's for sure! This book had fantastic character, and I loved the story, the spirits, descriptions and heartfelt, festive conclusion.

Timeless story, and a timeless edition for younger readers
This is a nice introduction to A Christmas Carol, especially for younger readers. This is an abridged version, but is based on that approved by Dickens himself. It is paced nicely, and the text is spaced out very well, with lavish illustrations and background information on Dickens, London, and the customs of the day.Highly recommend d for younger readers, older readers may find it a little light on the actual substance of the story. The broader strokes are there at the expense of the little, but still important, touches.Very nice edition overall.
