The Magic School Bus stories are very well written and illustrated. There is wonder and learning with this series. This explores concepts and introduces science topics clearly.

My kiddo has enjoyed Magic School Bus books since he was six. Well illustrated and educational, they provide answers to his many questions in ways he can understand, and the cute story lines keep him smiling and giggling. Perfect!This book was especially interesting to him because he’s urgently especially interested in earth science.

Bought this to help teach my kids about rocks during our year of Earth Science. This book is great and we have read it twice during this unit. There is tons of great information and it holds 6 and 8’s attention. My 8 yo had even read it silently for fun.

My grand nephew is 6 years old and loves "The Magic School Bus..." books. He has a great sense of humor and loves the funny comments of the students. He's beginning to read most of these by himself, but we enjoy reading them together. I'm amazed at how bright he is and these books bring that out in him.

We have been through over a dozen reference books on geology in the past year. Some on loan from the public library, some on loan from private libraries, a few purchased at sales, and one or two wholesale. All in the interest of figuring out what we're looking at on the ground outside our house.A frequent exclamation around here is, "Cool! Look at this rock!" Almost daily someone will find their new favorite rock.I have yet to find a truly good source for deciphering backyard rock specimens. Is it because geology and rock formation is just so terribly complicated that it's not possible to write an "easy guide"? Not sure. The search is on.However, this MSB Inside the Earth is, surprisingly, the easiest to understand reference we have found thus far in terms of explaining the broad stroke picture of what rocks are and how they form. It is a delightful read. It's packed with info. The kids love it. They have learned lots and so have I!

This series of books is outstanding. Plenty of information, simply presented with plenty of pictures to entertain and educate. My kids love them. There are lots of mini-essays on various related topics in each book, which form a great introduction to both writing in full sentences and answering a question briefly but accurately. Highly recommended

Take chances, make mistakes, get messy! Good book, the characters look a bit different than in some of the other books, as well as from the show, some kids will notice, but if they're okay with that kind of stuff, then hey, it's still good fun. Always educational and entertaining, especially if the kid(s) like rocks, earth, digging and/or adventures on their own or with their friends. Dig it! :)

Vorab, über Bildungsfernsehen:manchmal kann man von Amerika doch noch was lernen. Schulfernsehen ist bei uns gleichbedeutend mit drögem Retro-Bildungsfernsehen mit grell-gelben Neonschriften und Menschen vor einer Tafel. In Amerika wurden in den 90ern neue Wege gegangen und eine Fernsehserie um den "Magischen Schulbus" entwickelt. Eine Lehrerin hat einen ganz besonderen Schulbus, mit dem die Kinder (etwa 3. Klasse) auf Schulausflüge gehen, die sich meist eher "ungewöhnlich" entwickeln. Mit einer Mischung aus Fantasy und Science-Fiction tauchen die Kinder im wahrsten Sinne tief in die jeweilige Materie der Folge ein und lernen viele neue Dinge. Am Ende gibt es noch eine Art kritische Selbstreflexion mit dem Medium an sich, wenn Schüler beim Produzenten der Sendung anrufen und über die Wissenschaftlichkeit der Darstellung sprechen. Großes Kino.Insgesamt etwa vergleichbar mit dem großartigen "Es war einmal das Leben.."Die BücherVom Fernseher zum Buch ist oftmals ein beschwerlicher Weg, meist schwieriger als Anders herum, da die Möglichkeiten in dieser Richtung eher begrenzter erscheinen. Der Bücherserie gelingt es jedoch erstaunlich gut, durch eine Wilde Mischung aus Comic, Fachbuch, Notizheft und eine teils recht interessante Variation mit dem Thema Wissenschafts-Comic. Im Kino würde man sagen, die "vierte Wand" wird wiederholt durchbrochen.Das regt die Leser zu Auseinandersetzung und Nachdenken an und verleiht dem Heft mehr Interaktion als man erwarten kann.Inside the EarthEine Reise ins Innere der Erde, über Vulkane, Erdschichten, die Vergangenheit der Welt und viel mehr.Die SpracheKlar, es ist englisch. Aber kein wissenschaftliches Englisch. Es tauchen vereinzelte Fachbegriffe auf. Aber meine Kinder können nach 2 Jahren Leben in Tansania, wo Englisch auch nicht die Landessprache ist, alles gut verstehen.FazitEine Art Geheimtipp! Ideal für Kinder, die zweisprachig aufwachsen. Oder zur Ergänzung für Englisch in der Grundschule. Altersempfehlung: etwa 6 - 10 Jahre.
