Nothing against this product it just strikes a raw cord
My landlord made me buy this because his electrical system is on the fritz. Yeah, my computer got fried by a power surge and outage! He wanted me to buy this to protect his hood microwave which was improperly installed and grounded!. I thought he would pay me back but he didn't, of course. I have lived here a year and he has refused to fix the electrical system, accused the 8 different electricians who gave FREE estimates of being frauds! He has refused to fix the hot water heater. He hid the ceiling fan that was hanging by wires only so the housing inspector wouldn't see. He signed an agreement to allow someone to park an RV and draw electricity and live in it and then begged ME to rewrite it and then months later declared the agreement was invalid! He now wants to move back in the house so I am going to be on the streets. Nothing to do with the product, just a huge sore point with me and so I hate this item.

Didn't fit my needs. looks sturdy though.
This item is a bit bulky. Would help if they made them a slimmer profile. Won't fit behind my fish tank and stand without me draining tank and moving it. If I have to do that, might as well change the outlet and I won't need this item.

Great portable GFCI option if you have a standard outlet.
I have hanging lights over my pool that string together. Granted I have multiple safety protocols in place that are mostly hardware related, but anytime you have an electrical device hanging over water that connects to a standard outlet it's concerning. This is where the GFCI portable outlet works wonders, it allows me the safety of mind of knowing that if all of my other fale-safes for some reason broke down, the electricity would shut down at the source. Prior to this device I would have needed to install an GFCI outlet, which is more demanding and takes time. All in all it does what it says so far and I'm hoping never to test it in a real world scenario.

WHIP END VERSIONS MORE APPROPRIATE FOR ROUGH ENVIRONMENTS
POSSIBLE FAILURE POINT OBSERVED: One or both of the male plug prongs could break free from the circuit board should the prongs be bent (stepping on the end of the device when it is on the ground, etc) or stressed (pulling too hard on the cord attached to the device while the device is plugged in, etc). Obviously this constitutes "abuse" of the product; however, what I'm getting at is that on most manufactured molded plug ends, the prongs can withstand abuse and generally be rebent into position a time or two before they go bad, and/or if they go bad, the cord end can be cut off and replaced, though it would no longer technically be a "UL listed device". If you're using this device where the cord plugged into it may be pulled on quite a bit (construction or shop environment), or handled roughly, I would opt for the version that has the "whip" cord on the end as the prongs will be much more able to withstand abuse. Review for Tower Manufacturing Corp, UL E174279: I disassembled a hard wired version of this device (same UL number and identical to picture except came hardwired to a line cord vs plug-in receptacle) that had failed because of prong separation at the circuit board. The device still tripped properly for safety reasons, but the supply power was erratic because of the loose/detached prong(s). The consumer threw away a perfectly good electric pressure washer (more trash for the planet) because of a device that is really most appropriate for small devices like hair dryers, or fixed devices like tv's. etc. This is my opinion, but I believe it is accurate.

GFCI Outlet
This was purchased to replace an outdated and damaged plug from the same manufacturer. It is an excellent upgrade. Although it can't easily be wired into for a layperson, it will serve the same function with a standard plug end plugged into it. It works flawlessly.
