Color Oops is best for me, but all color removal is hard.
Disclaimer: Going to a professional is the preferred method when you’re talking about changing/ stripping color. But after tons of money spent and tons of salons and professionals tried, I have found that DIY is the method that works FOR ME. Is it right for you? I don’t know. I am impressed with this product and would recommend, but please understand it is not a miracle treatment. Color removal is often an arduous process that requires patience, strict adherence to directions and possible second or third applications are a reality in the color removing game. This is true for ANY COLOR REMOVAL PRODUCT I HAVE TRIED. Considering the above, Color Oops is my favorite in-home, DIY product so far. ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM: this product SMELLS REALLY BAD. VENTILATE— I used bathroom fan and a portable fan with bathroom door open. Don’t get it on your hands, clothes, or any objects—even if it gets on the countertop, use cleaner to wipe it up. ANYTHING this stuff touches will stink for days. Make sure you wear disposable gloves and plastic cap that comes in box. Throw away bottles, gloves, cap and tie up your trash bag tight when you’re done. Even use old clothes/ towel if you have them and throw those away, too (I just washed an old towel on highest setting to get smell out). For me, this is an ideal alternative to bleach. I can’t bleach my hair anymore than I already have, it’s too fragile. This product is way less damaging than bleach, but it will, however, open up pores to let the color out—so it will make it brittle until you condition it really well. Strand test is crucial—but understand your hair color will not change much if at all during strand test—color removal happens during the 15-20 minute rinse and 2 to 3 shampoos once you’re finished with the treatment. Application is quick (don’t drip it around! no metal clips! use plastic combs, clips, etc.) and only takes 20 minutes to process. Wear the plastic cap so the heat from your head keeps it nice and warm. The rinsing is the hard part. Rinse hot as you can handle for about 20 minutes to get the color out. The product opens the pores, the rinsing removes the color. Your hair will stink even after the rinsing, but the shampoo step removes the smell. Shampoo a couple times after use—USE A CLARIFYING SHAMPOO—moisturizing or color protecting shampoos will re-seal the pores and prevent further color removal during the process. I shampooed 3 times with a cheap, generic clarifying shampoo and lots of rinsing in between. This really got the last bits of color out for me. After I got as much color as possible out, I conditioned and used a protein treatment packet (follow directions—leaving protein on too long isn’t good for your hair) to seal and soften my hair after. I’m happy—BUT MY EXPECTATIONS ARE TEMPERED. I will have to do it again in 2 weeks to a month bc there’s still some red tones hanging around. Not much, but red is a very stubborn color. I have to wait 2 to 4 weeks bc my hair is too brittle to do any treatment that opens pores back to back. I have to heal it for a while with gentle, moisturizing shampoos and good conditioner before doing it again. Some people have healthy hair and don’t have to wait. BECAUSE MY HAIR IS ALREADY BLEACHED BEFORE COLOR REMOVER, I ALSO HAVE TO WAIT BEFORE ANY BLEACH/ OR DEVELOPER OR FOR AT LEAST 2 TO 4 WEEKS—so I have to wait to re-color unless I want to go dark again. I don’t. I just want to make it a nicer blonde. Meantime, bleach blonde with “ombre” roots it is. If you made it this far, you’re a champ. I wish you good hair forever.

Do NOT buy if you have blue dye.
So, this is partially my fault for not understanding, but the packaging does not make this point clear for some of us novices out there. i.e. This does not work on blue dyes. In particular, Ion hair dye. In the instructions it DOES state it, but the box didn't mention it. As I wasn't sure what type of dye was in my hair from the salon, I didn't know this was one of the dye types that didn't work. I even did many youtube searches first to see if it worked on blue and all these fake reviewers were like "oh yeah it works great!." It does not.Followed the instructions precisely and even threw in some extra shampoo cycles, but literally nothing happened except making my hair and bathroom drain smell like sulfuric gas.Pros: NoneCons:Smells like a really nasty sulfuric gas odor.Doesn't remove Blue (at all)Frizzes hair outAs a side note for anyone seeking blue hair removal: This and the Ion Hair Color Remover does NOT remove the blue dye.I'm probably going to resort to bleaching it again, which is what I was trying to avoid.

It does take out red hair dye!
I’ve used this product so many times but this is the first time with this new formula. The picture included is only after one application(I use it twice) I use it from going dark red back to my natural medium blonde. It works great like it always has however the smell is horrible compared to its older version. I recommend this to anyone trying to go back to a lighter color but please do your research and don’t fry your hair.

Not sure what went wrong.
I must say I'm kinda dissapointed with the oops product from Amazon, I've used this same product over couple years a few times from other department stores, but never bought from Amazon before. My past experiences with the oops product was very successful in the past till this time, my artificial hair color didnt lift as much from this product and the awful smell was more intense and stayed in my hair for four days even tho I have shampooed three times in the mean while. My hair become more brittle and very dry.Not sure what went wrong with this oops product this time. So there is the three stars.

Long story
Alright so! I had several months of color in my hair including black, blue that faded rapidly, and red. The blue and red were dyes made for dark hair so that you didn't have to bleach. The red was patchy and only took to the hair that was natural and undyed. I decided to get color remover so that I could go back to my natural color and go a copper color.I used Color Oops for 20 minutes. I've used the regular before and it made my hair very stringy, but worked well. This stuff did not damage my hair at all. It feels great. The only thing is, my entire head is now a copper color! I dunno if it reacted weirdly to the red dye, but it didn't exactly life it out, only made it the exact shade I was going for. There's a little bit of brown left on the ends of my hair but it looks good.So long story short, this didn't do what it was supposed to, but it gave me what I wanted.

Best thing ever!
Omg! This stuff actually works! It's fantastic. I had a dark red dye on my hair, dyed it twice. Color Oops hot rid of every trace! It doesn't smell that bad as I've read some reviews saying it stinks like rotten eggs but I think it smells more like rotten fruit lol. I really recommend this product! See my before and after photo attached. Any questions, feel free to ask me.

Golden girl
This is good. It's the second time I used it. The colour wasn't as nice as the first. That was really golden as in Goldilocks. I left it on too long this time. Keep checking as you wait. But it really gets rid of your mistake colour. I would use again. Very easy to use too. The only thing is it costs a bit more than high street stores. Otherwise it would be 5 stars.
