Okay for beginners especially when you are not sure you really like saxophone.
Easy to carry around. Sounds not exactly like saxophone, but still got a little bit of it. People said change the mouthpiece and the reeds will make a difference. Got a jsax before this, reason to getting Venova is jsax can only play from C to high F ( high G is not always can play) Venova got a larger range. When first playing Venova, it is hard to make a sound. But because got jsax not long ago and know it is the same when first start, so just keep on trying and once getting used to it and it will be alright. Venova sounds louder than the jsax, So if you don’t like loud instruments then you have to think about it before getting it. Overall quite happy with the Venova. Try not to push the mouthpiece all the way in and leave a little gap in between the body and the mouthpiece will help the making sound.

Need to get a mouthpiece replacement
Item arrived fast but the mouthpiece is chipped even with the cover. Can I get a mouthpiece replacement then I don't need to return the whole instrument? Thx.

Amazing New Instrument!
Wow! I couldn’t be more pleased with this instrument! It requires some getting used to but once you’ve picked up the basics it’s fairly easy to make a good sound.

I'm finding this a disappointment
I was quite excited about getting this. I fully expected something from Yamaha to be excellent. Now, it could be just me, but I'm finding it to be (i) very difficult to play and (ii) not well intoned. In particular, the F# is way out no matter what adjustments I make to my embouchure.I had hoped that this was going to be an upgrade from my Nuvo J-Sax. It isn't. The J-Sax is much easier to play, is very well intoned and sounds nicer.Having said all that, there are plenty of YouTube videos showing people getting a decent sound; maybe it's just me. But I couldn't be bothered putting the time and effort into this when I have my J-Sax that is much more fun.

Unusual but beautiful, saxophone, clarinet cross.
An unusual looking instrument but rather beautiful, a cross between a saxophone and clarinet, not so many keys as a clarinet, uses a Reed, seller provides a resin Reed with it. It is rather difficult to blow and get a consistent tone but obviously practice will make perfect, I hope! Some people may have difficulty with this.

Needs head phones 😀
Purchased for grand daughter now it’s just annoying listening to all the practice, needs head phones.

Try again Yamaha, try MUCH harder.
Insufficient tutelage and a total lack of useful literature. If I knew how to play it fine but this was something to learn with rather than leave on the shelf. Yamaha, you let yourself and me down with this.

Not a beginner/party instrument
Despite the ads, this is not an easy playing/easy listening instrument. It is quite hard to get a sound out of it, and even when you do get there, it is harder even to make it sound right. The volume is very high, meaning that your friends are more likely to cover their ears rather than hum along.

Sax Venova o grande.
O timbre desse Sax Venova é excelente. Tem que estudar muito para aprender tocar legal. Eu vou conseguir. Um abraço.

Best beginner reed intstrument!!!
If you are looking for a reed instrument to play, choose the Venova. It has a sleek design with a branched tube. It is made of plastic. It is easy to learn and youj can even play careless whisper! While Ive been playing the Venova, I recently noticed that I have been getting a lot of squeaks and the instrument is flipping up an octave. To solve this, look for alto saxophone 2 and a half reeds. Take a reed (not the plastic synthetic one) and put it on like regular. It will solve all your problems!

L'anche n'est pas un détail sur lequel on peut passer rapidement...
The media could not be loaded.

Awesome instrument. Cool looking, Perfect for beginners, Very nice sound!
The media could not be loaded. I am incredibly happy of this purchase. I am a self-taught amateur musician and this was my first try with a reed instrument. Since I am missing my left pinky I had to choose something that had a recorder fingering so this instrument looked perfect for me!At the beginning the sound is very difficult to make, especially the low notes, so it can be frustrating if you are new to reeds. It is also due to the plastic reed itself that is hard for a total beginner like me. I switched to 2.0 soprano sax reeds and I was able to make good sound much easier. Then I switched to harder reeds, 2.5, 3.0, and now I switched back to the plastic reed since now I can play it and I think it makes the best tones, specifically it is easier to make notes in the high register. When you are good enough to use it, I think the plastic reed eventually sounds better.Notes like Gb Ab and Bb don’t have their own hole but instead a special fingering and require some breathing and embouchure technique to do right, otherwise they will sound sharp, but it’s definitely possibile to make them right consistently with practice I am sure. The sound is awesome for such a plastic, cheap thing. I often exercise in the park and almost every day somebody approaches me confused about my instrument since they expected to see a saxophone! :DThe range of two octaves is just right to play the majority of tunes, I am happy with it.Also the fact that is durable plastic, so lightweight and small is a big advantage: I brought it with me during my holidays and I played it on the beach without fear of ruining it!The cleaning cloth that comes with it is not very useful since it doesn’t clean very well the inner side of the instrument. I also recommend to buy a mouthpiece patch because it’s very easy to dent the mouthpiece.I attach a short video I made after just a month of exercise! :D I was a total beginner but I think it sounds very very nice even with a poor technique like mine. Also it displays how easy to is to play a tune with it (with some exercise)PRO:* incredible sound for what it is, just like a sax* Unique look, makes people turn their head* Recorder fingering is super easy to learn and friendly, perfect for people new to woodwinds* Two octaves range just good enough* cheap, waterproof, small and lightweight: perfect travel companionCONS:* The plastic reed is impossibly hard for beginners, one should start with another reed and then eventually switch back* Some accidental notes are sharp and need technique to sound right, especially Gb, Ab*Cleaning cloth pretty much useless
