A breakthrough in motion picture toys, the Strobotop links the old with the new. It combines a simple hand-powered spinning top with LED electronics to make pictures and drawings magically come to life and move. It's new! It's old! Spin the Strobotop, aim your LightPhaser at it, and adjust the dial. Suddenly, the blurring images snap into focus and spring to life before your eyes! Animals leap and gallop. Children run and play. Kaleidoscopic patterns move and change. Illustrates the principals of animation and how the mind perceives motion pictures!

Great item!
My son was all "blah" even though he asked for this. BUT then we unwrapped it and I showed him how to use it. No more blah! We did have a lot of fun using it.I can see this being useful in a classroom with multiple classes. It is a great gift.

The Magic is Gone Without a Working Strobe!
Apparently, judging from the reviews here, this toy is a “hit or miss” purchase. As others have said, the strobe didn’t work. It’s disappointing when any child’s toy doesn’t operate properly, but it’s particularly upsetting when an autistic child who doesn’t understand WHY something doesn’t work is terribly disappointed.

My Autistic Nephew Loved It
I think typical kids would like this toy also, but for my autistic nephew it was perfect. The discs are of different scenes and he loves to try one and then another and another. It holds his attention well. He takes it into a dark room to see the "animation". I'm not sure about the durability of this toy. The cards/discs are kind of a heavy cardstock. He got it for Christmas and 5 months later, it's still intact, but that could be an issue long term.

Great activity for Asperger/low spectrum Autism kids for stimulation.
My 5-year-old grandson, diagnosed with Aspergers, LOVES this! It was highly recommended by an Asperger/Autism group. Very stimulating. I also love that the strobe light was made to shut off automatically if shone in the upright position so as not to harm anyone's eyes. Very well thought of concept. Highly recommend for ALL kids, especially age 4+.

Poorly constructed. Disappointing.
The product's strobe flashlight is so poorly constructed it does not function - the wires within were crimped - this is the second defective strobe I've received. I'm trying for one more time.

AMAZING!!!
I just gave this to my sons last night, and...it is sooo cool!!I love it, they love it! I had no idea that shining a tiny strobe light on a top would make such an amazing difference.Plus the strobe flashlight has a built in safety feature, it will go out if you raise it, so you do not have to worry about it being shined into little eyes.

Poor Quality
We bought this for our son who has autism for Christmas. Unfortunately, the strobe the strobe light did not work. It would go on for a moment and then stop. Very disappointing.
