Perfect fit and function for the Canon 5D Mkii
One Fellow on You Tube said he ruined his Canon camera trying to use a CF adapter card? He did not give any information about which Canon he had, another said this CF/SD adapter card would work with the Canon 5D Mkii it works perfect and the SD card works with a spring load when you load the SD card you must push it in till it locks in place, when you want to remove the SD card you need to push the card in till it unlocks!

A Lot Better than the Red Ones
Using in two Canon 7D.A year ago, I bought two of the red-colored SD/CF adapters that are sold here under several different names. One of those two was all screwed up from the get-go, making Windows Explorer do all sorts of weird things when I tried it in the card reader. The red one that I kept only works with about 25% of our many SD cards; brand-name and GB-size seem to have no bearing on this behavior.Wanting something better and more dependable, I tried this one.We have a bunch of SD cards, mostly Delkin (my favorite), Transcend, and Sandisk (Sandisk are always thinner and don't always make good contact in various receptacles on account of this).I sat and tried every SD card in our collection, in this adapter and in both of our 7D cameras. The only card it refused to work with was a 128-GB Delkin Advantage, the only 128-GB card we have; all the rest are 16-, 32-, and 64-GB.Although this card was about seven bucks more than the lowest-priced red one, it was well worth the difference in dependability.I can see no difference in read/write speed compared to an SD card directly inserted in my 7DMkII, nor can I see any difference between an SD card in this adapter and a similarly rated CF card. The 7Ds will rapid-fire just as quickly and just as many RAW/Large-jpeg shots with this set-up as with a CF card.A bit of advice: prior to using one of these, or any type CF card or adapter, First: peer down in all the fifty tiny holes with a good light and a strong glass and check for any stray casting flash; Second, one-by-one, insert a pin in every one of the fifty holes, making sure it goes to full depth in every hole; Third, check the card in a card reader inserted in the computer, writing and reading and deleting several times until you are satisfied it is not going to do anything weird; only after making these simple investigations should you load the card in the camera.Ignore this advice and if you bend the pins in your camera or smoke the electronics, that's on you.

Good product...BUT!
So far...so good! This solved a really big problem for me. I have a Canon 5D Mark II which only takes CF cards, which we all know are pretty expensive when compared to their counter part (SD Cards). I purchased this product because I have about fifteen 32GB Sandisk Cards which I wasn't using because they didn't fit into my Mark II. As stated this adapter is a 'Type II' CF card (43×36×5 mm) and if you have the Canon 5D Mark II, although it is a snug fit, you shouldn't have any problems. SIDE NOTE: the more popular CF cards are Type I (43×36×3.3 mm) cards. The Build: The build quality is actually really well built. It seems to be stronger than your typical Type I CF card. This may be due to it's thickness. This adapter is 'spring loaded' so when you put your SD card into it, you have to push it all the way down and it will click into place. To remove it, you push it down again and it pops out of the adapter. Here's what I've experienced so far:Photography: I haven't had any issues so far, the adapter works as advertised. This cards has not slowed down my frames per second (fps) when shooting photos. The Canon 5D Mark II does about 3.9 frames per second of continuous shooting and the card determines how well the buffer works. I am using Class 10 Sandisk Extreme SD cards and my frames per second are consistent with or without this adapter. I have used this card on professional shoots and it has not failed me yet.Video: I have only used this card so far to record a 3 minute video and it has performed very well. It handled the video capabilities of my camera without fail. HOWEVER, I need to use this card for longer shoots (45 mintes +) to give it an accurate video review. I can honestly say that I don't trust it enough to use it on professional video shoots. So, when I have time I will test this adapter on a longer personal shoot. Why 4 stars:I gave this product 4 stars because I think the design could be improved. The SD card is inserted into the side of the adapter, so when you insert it into your camera you cannot access the SD card. Which means, there is an added step to remove the card from the adapter when you have it inserted into your camera. This may not seem like a burden but if you are shooting (professional or time sensitive) then what is usually a one-handed task, now becomes a two handed task because once you remove the card from you camera you will need both hands to remove it from the adapter. A better design would have the slot to insert the SD card at the top of the adapter. This way, when you need to switch cards, you open your camera card door and simply press on the SD card so it will pop out and the adapter stays in the camera. This allows for you to change SD cards with one hand again and you could even keep the adapter in your camera.

Works with PCMCIA to CF Adapters and in older CNC equipment.
I'm a Field Service Engineer that works on A LOT of CNC equipment and often have to backup/restore data, upgrade/downgrade software, or load other tools into the controller to perform maintenance. About 70% of the equipment I deal with use these older PCMCIA or CF cards.CF cards in smaller capacities are getting more and more harder to find, and if you do find them, they cost and arm and a leg. Because most of this older equipment doesn't work with cards over 2GB, this was starting to become an issue.Being able to purchase a lot a smaller SD cards and then use this adapter was a massive time saver.I can now setup specific tools / software upgrade and what not on a SD card and never have to touch them again until I need them. Saving me a lot of head ache trying to recall how to set something up. (I back these card up as well.)Important note: You often have to format the card at the machine so it will set the SD card up correctly before you can put data on it that the machine can use. The way Windows formats cards for some reason or another causes the machines to not read them sometimes.Overall, the plastic body seems to be a better construction than the other metal one I had tried before. This one doesn't feel like it will pop apart on me, but only time will tell.

Check your device first!
Fair warning: It won't fit most modern devices which use thin type I cards, which are only as thick as the two rows of pins. The description of this product is correct, so check first. I got lucky in that it fits in my Canon 40D and (to my immense surprise) my 1Dx but not my 5D III.The product itself works as advertised; I put an SD card in it and it latched in place in the usual spring-loaded manner. After that it was business as usual for my camera. One unexpected benefit is that with the extra thickness it won't go in the wrong way at all where the thin cards will go in a little ways.I have no objective speed data and no reason to collect any but this device works fine for what I want it to do. Amazon did fine on shipping and while it was a little on the expensive side it is a bit of a niche product.

Cumple

Working like a charm with a microSD (in an adapter) in my 5D mk2. Definitely great to be able to leave CF behind without changing cameras.
