Second NinkBox I've Purchased, Solid little Android Box
UPDATE: Got an IR/RF Airmouse ( https://www.amazon.com/AuviPal-Universal-Keyboard-Programmable-Raspberry/dp/B07LD5DPNR/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=auvipal+air+mouse&qid=1620527236&sr=8-2 ) to use with this TV Box and now it's fantastic as you don't need to use the remote that comes with it. The airmouse makes it easy to cruise the web, type, and is in the form of a remote about the size of a TV remote. Keyboard is on the back, navigation buttons on the front. Lights up and is rechargeable with a charge lasting several days. Highly recommend for the Android TV Box! Liked it so much I bought another for the TV box in the garage! Original review of TV Box follows...I bought my first NinkBox from Amazon in Aug 2019 (and wrote a review then), and now in Dec 2019 got a second one for the TV in the garage so I can watch movies while exercising. The box had some changes between Aug and Dec... the new box is redesigned with a digital clock on the front, and the ports are in different, better positions. It also has a new launcher that most people would probably like more than the previous one. The remote is also different, and it's the one thing I like less than the original. This review is on the current box.Pros:Rooted out of the box(2) USB ports so you can have a USB stick connected and a USB dongle for a portable keyboardOne USB port is on the side, and the other on the back, so the dongle doesn't have to squeeze in next to the stickNice visual launcher with some convenient (but limited) features for organizing appsStrong wifi antennaAndroid v9 OSCon:The remote I received is buggy. In standard mode when I press up/down often nothing gets highlighted so can't see where I am or select anything, so have to press the mouse-feature button to see a cursor to do my selecting in those instances. Then sometimes standard mode DOES work, so again, buggy. (The remote on the original box I got had a few more buttons and works great.)Subjective Con: There is a digital clock on the front in bright, amber-colored light. I prefer the small, dark blue LED on the original box. I find lights next to the TV distracting and every device has one, so the smaller and darker the LEDs the better imho.Geeky Subjective Con: Last I checked, NinkBox does not make drivers available for the TWRP Recovery tool. Most people won't even know that that is, but if you are someone who uses it, you won't have that option unless drivers are made available in the future. What I like about an Android TV Box is it's a roll-your-own approach. You can totally customize your box to have any launcher (I prefer ATV myself since it's totally customizable), any many Android apps are open-source. Plus you don't need to create an account with anyone to use it (unlike Roku and other proprietary boxes).I really like the NinkBox which is why I ordered a second one. I do wish they hadn't changed the remote, but if I'm going to surf or do anything complex I'd use a portable keyboard anyway. The first Ninkbox got 5 stars, this one 4 because of the remote. But imo, it's a dependable, solid choice for an Android box.

Inscrutable
This product comes with absolutely no instructions, either in the box or online (as confirmed by Amazon support). It powered on and displayed video but I wanted to use it to stream Amazon Prime Video and couldn't tell if it was even possible. It comes with a few pre-setup online streaming portals, e.g., Netflix but I don't use Netflix. I'm guessing all the favorable reviews posted so far were from shills. I'm a tech nerd and I could't figure out how to use the thing other than the obvious setup steps. How can anyone sell such a product without any information as to how to use it whatsoever? Another return. By the way, I was able to program my Harmony 650 remote to control the box. This is a NinkBox R8 Plus, which is not on the list of supported devices. Another Android streaming box, the UBox R89, is supported and selecting it seems to work just fine.

A NICE PLAYER, BUT ANNOYING ISSUES WITH FIRMWARE
I bought the NinkBox N8 Plus to replace an old WD media player. I like having built-in wi-fi and Bluetooth capability along with Android 9 and Play Store access. It's a nice player, but does have some quirks:1. It occasionally gets itself into a loop and you need to reboot.2. To ensure that the contents list of USB devices is updated, attach those storage devices only while the unit is ON.The box can also be powered by USB 5V/2000mA connection, using a USB 2.0 Type A male to DC 5.5x2.1mm connector with positive center-pin (see picture).I use 128GB memory sticks connected to either the USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, with no problem. However, USB HDDs only appear to work via the USB 2.0 port! The NinkBox will power a 2.5" HDD through the USB connection and one advantage is that when you switch off the NinkBox, the HDD will also power down. (I have not tried a 3.5" USB external HDD, but that size drive would certainly need its own power supply). I use a USB hub attached to my NinkBox and that works great.

AT YOUR OWN RISK...
Would constantly freeze and restart after warming up but only while casting videos,Also after a while i ran out of "attempts" simply because the counter would count every single attempt at reloading the same video... but wait...???? What am I even talking about you may ask?Although this unit along with many others offers the built in cast function like the chromecast does, it is somehow software locked. I was able to cast from a few apps in my phone but the constant overheating presumably from a few bugs in the software made it so that i quickly ran out of "THE FREE" trial of the ever-glitchy casting feature. I tried circumventing this by installing a plethora of casting apps to no avail. There's no way around it unless you end up paying anywhere from $20 to $50 to unlock a feature thats supposedly free to begin with.In that note. If you decide to buy this then i do hope you are the type of user that's willing to sacrifice the ability to quickly share content with your T.V. and would rather use the weirdly uncomfortable and laggy remote instead of the comfortable smartphone that you are already used to.This in my opinion defeats the purpose of being a Smart Setup for my projector room.On a last attempt, i tried to install happy chick apk to get a sense for its emulation capabilities but the app is not compatible with this unit. This was the sealing nail in the coffin....AT YOUR OWN RISK
