Fits a pit-type snout, not an English Bulldog type snout.
We have 2 female rescue American Bulldogs, one Johnson (English bulldog type snout) one hybrid (pitbull type snout).Typical of the breed, they love their people but don’t do well with other dogs, especially each other. They’re kept separate but there was a miscommunication recently and they fought, and in less than 60 seconds they did about 4K$ worth or damage to each other. So when they are on the same floor of the house now (still separated by doors, rooms, etc) they are muzzled. They don’t love it but I don’t love paying 4K$ in pet bills and having my babies cut up so like I tell my kids everybody’s gotta make sacrifices in a family sometimes. Theyre learning to accept it (very stubborn breed Id guess most breeds don’t take as long). The XL Rhodesian Ridgeback male mask fits the Hybrid very well. She can’t get it off despite doing everything imaginable to try for a few days in the beginning and a to play occasionally.None of the available options fit the Johnson because of the shape of her head, but I kind of thought that might happen and was trying this before going the Hannibal Lecter route with the full mesh head cover with tongue and eye holes. She can’t talk of course but I suspect that since she now looks like Jason from the horror movies I think she’d have rather made this muzzle type work lol. Some reviews I’ve read for muzzles take off because the dog can’t eat or drink in them so I think some people might over utilize these. They’re tools to enhance the lives of the dogs by allowing them to be in situations they enjoy but otherwise wouldn’t be allowed in.Between two dogs that would literally kill each other in less than 5 minutes if they could, they need to be muzzled maybe 1-3 hrs a day max, many days not at all (after they’re used to it, initially they need to learn to accept the muzzle and stop trying to pull it off so I leave it on longer until they do).If your dog is in a situation where it needs to be muzzled all day your dog is probably not where it needs to be. Find a different room/location to keep the dog where it is happy and not surrounded by things it wants to bite.If biting you or your family is the issue do not rely solely on these muzzles for your safety. Dogs need the perception of a dominant owner so they can relax and enjoy life, find a trainer who knows your breed or you are putting yourself and your dog in a situation that will end with someone getting bit and the dog being put down. I’ve seen it too many times.

That must be one big Dalmatian...
Talk about jumping through hoops to make sure I wouldn't have to return an item only to have to return an item. The fit for these things it's just extremely hard to determine. The product itself felt like quality well built and all but there were still some minor improvements that could have been made to it. The main reason for this review is that I corresponded with this company via phone and email I took pictures of my dogs snout and measured it in three different directions all to make sure that I was getting the right one and what they recommended didn't even come close. Additionally getting correspondence was like pulling teeth.

Great for Most Dogs
My dog had a foot injury that she refused to stop licking. I tried multiple cones and she would destroy each of them in about a day. I tried a fabric muzzle, and while it worked, it prevented her from panting and she could barely drink water with it.This muzzle prevented my dog from licking her foot and it allowed her to fully open her mouth to pant and drink water. It worked great if I was in the same room. I later made the mistake of letting her out in the yard unsupervised. Even with the leather strap zip-tied to her collar, she was able to get the muzzle off, eat the leather straps, and throw the remaining metal basket in the pool. This muzzle works as intended, but you may want to consider the Dean & Tyler classic wire-basket muzzle if your dog is as stubborn as mine.Oh, and if your dog scrapes the muzzle along brick and stone in an attempt to remove it before throwing it in the pool, it will quickly develop surface rust.

Very nice muzzle
The muzzle I received was not the same as pictured. It fits well though so I kept it. My dog likes it much more than his previous muzzle. Much better for warm weather with all that panting room.

Great tool
I could not get my dog to be still enough for accurate measurements, so ordered by breed. This seems a bit big for my GSD, but she is only 8 months old so she will grow into it. Having just the one strap probably makes it easier to get an accurate fit. It is very easy to put on and she got used to it quickly. I just fed her some treats through the wire mesh and it was all good. She will sometimes try to paw it off, but I think it only bothers her when she knows I am looking! In spite of it being a bit big, I feel confident that it is secure enough to prevent her biting. This has made socializing her much less stressful since she has a bit of fear agression when she is on the lead. Her walking manners have improved a lot since I am able to get her a bit closer to people and she can see that they don't hurt her!

BEST DESIGNED MUZZLE I HAVE EVER OWNED
I am a Dog Behaviorist & Trainer with three German Shepherds of my own. One of them, my treasured 105 pound Rocky, loves to play soccer ball using his nose as his "foot".... he has that ball all over the place, up and down the court, truly amazing, but he will only play with a muzzle on obviously because it protects his nose from getting all battered up. This muzzle is the most EXCELLENTLY designed muzzle I have ever owned for an athletic dog like Rock and he was so excited about it he could hardly wait to shove his nose into it. It gives outstanding facial protection and coverage while allowing him plenty of room to pant and drink water freely. Although Rocky isn't a biter I can see how this design would also be excellent for bite prevention without making an already paranoid or defensive dog feel compromised due to the freedom it offers of still being able to pant, drink water and even eat small kibble food through it. THANK you Dean & Tyler for this superiorly designed muzzle. Rocky says, "ARF!"
