It has a suitable power and good control. **Q: how tacky (sticky) is the rubber on this paddle?** A: Not very. I bought a 401 about 4-5 years ago which has Yuki on both sides. It was getting pretty worn so I was looking for a replacement. I tried the 303, with Yuki on one side, and I tried the 302 with Yuki on both sides and neither were as tacky as the original 401. I finally decided to purchase a new 401 and even that is not as tacky as the original one was, or even still is today, after cleaning. I can not pick the ball up off the table with the paddle with any of the newer butterfly paddles (302, 303, 401) as I could with the original 401. Not sure if they changed the manufacturing, or I wasn't sent the "real deal" but I've been pretty disappointed. I actually keep playing with my original 401 for more competitive matches. I hope it lasts a while. **Q: Are the pips short or long?** A: The pips are short (on the non-smooth side). They are backed with sponge, so this is effectively either a flat ball attacking side or an effectively anti-spin side. In either case, it gives players a variation (from smooth-side out rubber) that they might find to their advantage. It is a nice racquet for a great price.
