Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1974 album from the Scottish rockers augmented by the inclusion of four choice BBC session recordings from August 1973. Loud N Proud celebrates the fact that the still-inexperienced Dunfermline group pulled off an extraordinary coup with this release. As Nazareth would tell you, being loud and proud isn't just an album title it's a mission statement which made them stars then and an enduring institution today. 12 tracks. Salvo. 2010.

Refreshing Slice of 70's Rock Pie
I hate to admit it as a life long hard rock afficianado, but I've never owned an album from Nazareth's lengthy catalog unti I purchased this cd recently. Back around 1980 I had a greatest hits 8-track by Nazareth called "Hot Tracks;" I think I picked it up at a flea market. As a less mature consumer (a mere 14 year-old at the time) I hadn't come to appreciate many of the "older bands," enamored with the heavier and/or more polished, NWOBHM style groups of the early 80's.I actually purchased this because I'm a huge fan of album art and this cover was highly rated in a book I own called Fade to Black: Hard Rock Cover Art of the Vinyl Age (by Martin Popoff...great book by the way). Many of Nazareth's albums are featured in the book and I wanted to delve into their work, remembering the 8-track I had owned wasn't too bad (in my 14 year old mind). This is a very enjoyable listen! The album is produced by Roger Glover (of Deep Purple fame), one of my favorite producers from that era. He always seems to get a good mix from the bands he produces and this album is particularly well done. I never owned the original recording so I can't fairly compare this remaster with the original; however, I can attest that this remastered edition sounds great.Dan McCafferty had such a great voice! (that's one thing I remember from the old 8-track I used to own and from the many times I heard Love Hurts played on the radio). The vocals are excellent all around...in fact, I think the vocals (both backing and lead) are the strongest feature of Nazareth (based on my somewhat limited exposure).I will definitely be acquiring more albums from Nazareth's catalog. I know Hair of the Dog is their "classic" album and from things I've read No Mean City, Expect No Mercy and Malice in Wonderland are all must haves from this band.I strongly recommend this album but I have one minor complaint. The cardboard sleeve in which the album is packaged is poorly designed. The disc can only be removed after opening the full tri-fold sleeve thus making it a bit of a pain to get to the music! The liner notes and interior photos are nicely done and it truly is a vibrant cover. I just wonder how soon it will be until my disc gets scratched up from the Gordian Knot-style sleeve in which this disc is packaged!

Good stuff - finally a good release of this early rocker
Finally, a decent sounding pressing of this classic early 70's rocker. This was a solid first release as the Nazareth the group decided to become. Earlier albums were quite experimental. The producers have done a better-than-expected remastering job here. It cranks effectively on a 180 watt McIntosh sound system.

Nazareth..."Loud & Proud"...1973 & 2010 Salvo Remastered
This was the SECOND album, by Nazareth, that was released in 1973. This 2010 Remastered CD version contains 4 Bonus Tracks...BBC Sessions... Recorded on August 13, 1973.HIGHLIGHTS of this album are: "THIS FLIGHT TONIGHT", which was the very FIRST song, that I ever heard by Nazareth, in 1974. One of my TOP favorites, on this album."Child In The Sun... Another favorite song of mine...it is slower w/ more of a Country Style, Southern Rock feel to it. I just LOVE this song."The Ballad Of Hollis Brown"...Even though this song is awfully creepy & quite tragic, I still like it, anyway. Haunting as HELL, for sure."Go Down Fighting"...I love this, very much & this song PROMPTED me to buy THIS album, back in November 1977.This album is most definitely recommended, for future Nazareth Fans.Changes on My REVIEW were made on June 8, 2013.

Rock N Roll as it should be
My favourite Naz album. Still look on this like the old worn out vinyl one, as an album of 2 sides, almost 2 albums in one (omitting the extras here for now). The first side opens up with the great "Go Down Fighting" a fast hard rockin' track. Next comes Not Faking It, always loved this track and its use of infamous people and descriptions. Turn On Your Reciever is slower than the previous 2, but is still good and hard. Teenage Nervous Breakdown is the highlight of "Side 1" for me, great fast really hard rocking track. Freewheeler closes out the first side, a slower track, possibly more mellow, but still a great listen. Side 2 contains 3 totally different tracks, all of which are the highlights of the album. This Flight Tonight, an almost unrecognisable cover of Joni Mitchell's original. The band really make this song their own. Child In The Sun, a fantastic melodic song, with great harmonies, it really is beautiful, and the way this track ends and goes into the thumping drum that opens The Ballad Of Hollis Brown is pure genious. I connect these two songs together as one, to me me you can't listen to Child without going into Hollis Brown straight afterwards. Hollis Brown, a Dylan cover, totally unrecognisable as such though. This is an expressive, dark, doom laden track, telling the story of a mans mindset that leads to killing his family and himself. The "fuzz" bass lends itself to this morbid track brilliantly, and the phased drum part is just genious. This is Nazareth at their very best. There are no fillers here. Oh yeah, you also get 4 bonus tracks all taken from a BBC session.

Deserves more respect than it gets ..
I must admit i have a soft spot for this album, often ignored when discussing Nazareths best 70's discs,it really is worth reinvestigating, like the other Salvo remasters this has a superb digipak/booklet,to my ears the sound quality is superior to my other copy, the 30th anniversary issue on Eagle, this reissue really scores high with the addition of 4 BBC in session cuts. The original album got off to a flyer with the superb 'Go Down Fighting','Not Fakin It','Turn On Your Reciever' and a classy cover of 'Teenage Nervous Breakdown, possibly the finest opening to any Nazareth disc, whilst the excellent 'Freewheeler' and hit single 'This Flight Tonight' kept the party going, only the last two tracks 'Child in the Sun' and the strange cover of Dylans '.....Hollis Brown' bringing the pace down.'Bonus tracks 4 more BBC sessions from '73, 'Turn On Your Receiver','Too Bad Too Sad','Razamanaz' and 'Bad Bad Boy',all showing how far the band had come, heavier in the flesh than on disc.

Good rock will never die
I bought Razamanaz when I was a teenager but never got around to buying this album. I spotted an advert in a music magazine and thought it was time to buy it and I'm very glad I did. There are a couple of tracks I'm not so keen on, but tracks like 'This Flight Tonight' are of a very high standard of rock music that would not be out of place in current radio play. The addition of four bonus tracks from a BBC session (all of which are brilliantly executed) plus crystal clear sound (don't be deterred if your PC doesn't make the samples sound good - the CD sound is excellent) and a great gatefold sleeve with booklet all make this an excellent addition to your rock collection. Manny Charlton is a criminally underated guitarist. Great quality and value for money.

A fine Nazaerth album.
A fine Nazareth album, the first one I ever owned, this being my 4th purchase of it. Highlights are This Flight Tonight, Turn On Your Receiver and Teenage Nervous Breakdown but all songs are good. The only drawback with this remaster is the inclusion of the Live bonus tracks which to my mind are unnecessary.
