I had the hardest time finding a slim, but relatively long bench for our tiny entryway but when I found this, I was very excited &hopeful. I noticed that none of the bad reviews were even based on it breaking - only that it bent and made noise. But I know what kind of material bamboo is.Upon receiving it, assembly was very simple. I know for a fact also that it handles my 200+, 6' 5" husband who likes to (as I say) bomb furniture when he sits down (since he is so tall he just falls really hard and fast when he sits anywhere), and myself although I am only about 110 lbs. The squeaking freaked us out a bit at first, but really this bench is great and strong. Since he wears size 15, I was also happy that they had the picture showing the actual dimensions of the bench. This is honestly a great product if size is of importance due to limited space. &The slats where shoes are placed are the perfect size to handle both my size 6.5 in women's footwear, &my husband's size 15 in men's footwear. I'm sure it would handle children's footwear well, too. We use the lower level for more shoes, since we don't have children yet.For those worried about bamboo's strength, or the sounds the bench makes when a good amount of weight is put on it, I have included a video I found to show how squeaky/creaky but also strong that bamboo is. I almost didn't buy this after reading the reviews, but it was the only thing I found that met the following criteria:1. Under 20 inches tall so that it would fit beneath my windowsill.2. Water-resistant material (not laminate or wood) suitable for holding potted plants.3. Varied shelf/surface space heights.I'd read reviews that warned of splinters, but I gambled that this would come as it looks in the photograph and it did. The surfaces are very smooth, with a waxy sort of finish that is pleasing to touch.The description says that the boards will creek a little when weight is applied. Supposedly this is not bamboo breaking, but just bamboo shifting. Since I'm using mine for potted plants, I don't need mine to hold a lot of weight, and I'm unconcerned about this issue.I worried a little that the color wouldn't match the woodwork in my home at all, but to my pleasure, it matches the floors very, very well.Assembly:I think I read somewhere that the screws and the holes don't match perfectly. This seems to just be an artifact of bamboo: it warps. You just make it match up if it doesn't seem to match at first.Yes, there are "just pictures" for assembly, but they're quite clear, and that is pretty normal for furniture assembly. What would it need to say in text, anyway?It does come with 44 screws! That's a lot of screws and it takes quite a bit of time to put them in with the allen wrench (hex key), and nut wrench. Thirty to forty minutes. It comes with all the tools and screws you need. The holes are already made, so you won't need any power tools.

Nice bench. Arrived quickly. Easy to assemble, Attractive, sturdy, Met all my expectations and was exactly as described in the product description. I use it at the end of my bed to help my aging Jack Russell get on the bed. She loves it! The lower tier is perfect to give her a boost. I also use it to sit on and put my shoes on. I had a minor problem with one screw set that was defective but I contacted Songmics via email and they responded quickly (on the weekend!) and took care of my problem immediately. Their customer service is exceptional, so if you have a problem with your purchase I urge you to contact customer service and not just leave an ugly review.

Armed with a screw driver, wood glue and sheer will, my husband put this together in about 40 minutes. The wood cracked in a spot during shipping but my husband fixed it and it looks great! It's sturdy, and it looks like quality bamboo. Looks great and we both sat on it and ate a snack after he finished it. It was comfortable.

This was very simple to assemble, with the two necessary tools - allen wrench and 3/8" hex wrench - included. The allen wrench kept slipping out of the bolt heads, so I had to apply pressure on the head while also turning it and holding the wrench in place. Why they don't make allen wrenches T-shaped instead of L-shaped is a mystery; the leverage would increase dramatically, but tradition holds.The bamboo adds an elegant touch but more importantly keeps the weight down. Even though the finished length is almost 4', it weights next to nothing and was easy to lift over an armchair to move the bench into place. I immediately put my "barn shoes," which I wear twice a day, on the shelf closest to the door, and my "good" sneakers and work boots on the other side of the tall boot shelf. We have all tile floors, so for a little extra cushion, I wear my slippers pretty much all the time in the house. Now I can switch those out for any pair of shoes on the shelves when I go outside and then have them handy for when I come back in. So the dogs and cats wouldn't knock them around, I had been leaving them under a chair in the dining area to the immediately right of the front door, or under the coffee table if sitting on the couch to put on my shoes, but now I can sit on the bench to switch out my footwear and then store whatever I remove underneath. Since our house has no coat closet, this beautiful bench is a perfect place to store my shoes. I would have purchased the option with the coat rack, but the wall on either side of the front door is all windows and cabinets, so it wouldn't fit.I love the fact that is has a place for tall boots (though room for two pair would be better), as in muddy conditions we wear wellies to take care of the outdoor critters, and they always end up sprawled over the floor when the dogs start looking for something to lie on. DIrty boots, go figure!As for durability, I cannot make a comment, as I assembled it only last night. However, I have bamboo cutting boards and love them above all others. They are easy to clean and forgiving of stains and water, although my 1/4" thin board did break after being left soaking in the dish pan too long. If you live in a snowy climate, I would suggest banging the snow off first and not letting the snow melt all over it.Bottom line: for the price, this bamboo shoe bench cannot be beat.

Decently made, and quite a bit stronger than I expected. Only one criticism - the shelf "depth" - that is, the length of one's shoes which this will accommodate - is somewhat insufficient. I wear a North American size 8, which is slightly longer than the shelves will accommodate. If you are a larger person with size 10 or more, your shoes will stick out. I'd suggest that the manufacturer measure some of the shoes on the market, and increase the shelve's size. And, if your shoes have longer pointed toes, you might also have a few "fitness" problems.

This is one long narrow stand. Took me two hours to put together by myself. Could of used another person to hold shelves in place while I put the screws in. The hardest part was putting the bolts in the little round threaded circles-They didn't always match up. Turned the stand on it's side and the bolts would fall into place. Had to do again would of bought smaller. As I need this to sit on to put on my boots or shoes.

I've had this rack for a month and a half now, and so far, it's been great. My 3 year old sits on the smaller seat to put on his shoes and he loves it. It holds his weight without any issues. There's also a lot of room for our shoes, as well.
