Excellent Reference Book
The Windows XP Bible is an excellent reference book and "how to" book for newbie and somewhat experienced computer owners. If you have never used a computer before and need to know "everything", from how to correctly turn the computer on and off, setting preferences for the desktop, mouse, and more; connecting to the Internet and how to brows the Web, how to create e-mail; opening programs and documents, doing maintenance and general tweaking, installing programs, and a plethora of other necessary information, this is the book for you.I have been an avid computer user for five years and purchased the "Windows 95 Uncut" book when I got my first computer, when I upgraded to Windows 98 I purchased the "Windows 98 Bible", now that I have a new computer with Windows XP I am using the "Windows XP Bible". This book is never far from my computer, although I can navigate easily through Windows XP just from my previous experience, there will be times when I need to tweak, or find something specific and this book will get me to that point in a comprehensive way.

Excellent Reference for the XP User
I found this book to be a great help in repairing older PC's at work. I switched to Windows 7 a couple of years ago, and needed a refresher on the company's older XP machines. This book helped a lot, lots of great info and tips on the older Microsoft O.S. Not to mention I got a used copy, sure saved a ton that way as well! HIghly recommended to get info on older PC's running XP!

This book for Windows XP is a great book with only one problem.
The book is an encyclopedia of Windows XP. It has one drawback it does not deal with the Update 3. and there is no followup on the part of the writer or the publisher for the update. But if you have a machine that updated 2 then you have a really fine helper.

Okay, but.
This book, which should come with casters to roll it around, probably answered all of everyone's questions, except mine. How do I remove an 'administrator' from the system? Too bad.

its for people NEW to using XP
as it states in the first chapter, this is not an upgrade book for someone who has been using windows for years. its a book for newbies and for people who have neverr touched a computer, he says on the first page of the introduction - if you can understand the following, this book is not for you : "right-drag the selected items to the destination folder, drop , and then choose Copy Here or Move here, depending on which you want to do, from the shortcut menu". This is a book for people who can read the above sentence and honestly say, " I have no idea what he's talking about". having used this book It can answer any question you need on the user side of XP. a good user guide and reference for learners
