Good and Bad
I bought two of these fans for the workshop. First the good. They do move lots of air and are all metal construction. They are pretty well built and should last a long time. They arrived well packed and with no damage. Now for the other side of the coin. First they are not as large as I expected. They will measure 22" if you stretch the ruler from the outer edge of the fan guard to the other side. They actually are about the same size as my 19" fans, but the fan blade is about an inch bigger. Also they do not stand as tall as the description suggests. Some other reviews had loose and missing hardware and I can see why. The manufacturer does not put the hardware in a bag, but instead the hardware is simple screwed part way into the holes and left there. During shipment some of the hardware backs out of the holes and is flopping around in the box. If you are missing any parts be careful when replacing them at the hardware store, it is all metric. I also had to add some washers under the fan guard screws so as not to bend the fan guard when tightening. You must have a 12mm socket with extension to tighten the fan blade on the shaft. The rest is done with simple tools. It has a real heavy base and will not tip over or walk around. It works smooth and is pretty powerful. Oscillate works well. All in all, a good fan, but watch the hardware on unpacking!

GREAT fan for the money!
I believe in industrial quality, and clean utilitarian style, and this fan suits me well. It IS of all metal construction (except I think a bushing in the joint that holds the motor to the stand, and the switch knob, which are plastic). The coupling on the stand looks cheap and may be pot-metal, and the body of the motor? I finally determined it is stamped sheet steel, but it is well finished, seems perfectly rigid, and looks good (I thought it was aluminum at first). Apart from really just that one minor concern, this fan seems to be very good quality, and far, FAR superior to the lightweight, plastic (junk) pedestal fan I bought at the local big-box hardware store, which shattered the first time it fell over, off its very flimsy, unstable base. THIS fan has a heavy, weighted, thick sheet-steel base (which positively won't tip over), steel pedestal shaft, and powerful, steel-cased motor with a steel fan assembly and chromed steel cage. I should note, as some others have, that this fan is described as extending to 65" tall, however, it actually extends to only 55" (total height, to the top of the cage), a discrepancy which might be a typo. In most respects this fan absolutely exudes quality, certainly relative to its cheap, plastic relatives.I should caution that the low setting is not very low, but that should not bother most people truly in need of a good breeze. It does not rattle at all (yet at least), is not excessively noisy, nor does it have any other significant or even minor (real) problems that I can spot. Oh, the nuts and bolts had gotten loose in the box during shipping, and I had to find a replacement for one before I found the original hiding in the plastic bag that held the cage, where it did not belong (all parts including nuts and bolts actually WERE present). Assembly does require some time (an hour), a few tools (an adjustable wrench and a phillips screwdriver) and some effort. What is amazing is that everything fitted together exactly as it should.Yes, this seems to be an OUTSTANDING fan, which might be a good value even at 3X the price, and which is certainly a great bargain for $54.00 plus moderate shipping. I can hardly believe it can be sold so cheaply! I haven't run it long, and will let this review know if I have any problems, but so far I'm very impressed. This is certainly the best, most substantial, and apparently high quality fan I have ever bought for anything like this price. I can't be positive yet that it will hold up over the long haul, but all the evidence so-far is that it will. I'm sure there are less utilitarian-looking fans that are just as good, but I think THIS is certainly a good one. I'd recommend it to anybody.

poor manufacture design
Frustrating assembly. Cumbersome/awkward for one person to accomplish alone. The worst part was installing the front and back grill around the blades. It took me an hour to remove the tiny, tiny, screws from the back grill (the factory had inserted them in the grill). The screws were extremely hard to get out. When I finally got them out they were stripped and the holes in the grill had metal shavings around them from my trying to get the screws out. The screws were so tiny that it was impossible for me to support and align the two grills and insert the tiny, delicate screw to fasten them together. I ended up putting the grills together with wire twists (like the ones used to close bread in plastic wrapper.)The base is larger and heavier than it needs to be. It blows strong. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if the motor was substandard... I didn't send it back. Shipping would be too expensive and also it's too heavy to lug around.

Great fan...then....
I purchased this fan through Target.com in April 2011 for use in my small gym. It worked well, blew air like crazy, the members really liked it. Then 4 short months later, the thing just STOPS! So I dig out the Owner's Manual, find the number inside to see if anything can be done and..."This call cannot be completed as dialed!" Really? I was seriously loving this fan, a definite 5 Star (still gave it 2 because when it worked, it worked well!), until this...I don't know what it generally sells for, I know I paid about $65, but I cannot afford $65 every 4 months. I'm not impressed. :(

Great fan for the price
For the most part a great fan, especially at this price. Assembly was easy, and I love the classic look - very utilitarian - just looks like a shop fan. The cage/blade part was bigger than expected. It's very solid and heavy - no fear of tipping over, and doesn't move along the floor at all. My only gripes: it's a very powerful fan, which is good, but I wish the "low" setting was a little lower. I can't imagine I'll ever even turn it up to "medium". If you want to be able to set your fan to a soft quiet breeze, this isn't for you. That being said, it's not terribly loud for how much air it moves. Also, the way you adjust the tilt of the head could be a little more sophisticated - you have to loosen the bolt, adjust the tilt, then tighten it back up. But overall, I would recommend it - a solid, strong, good looking fan.
