This tamper works great with my delonghi, in the 51mm size. It should be noted that the pressure is about 35 pounds just as the spring starts to deform, and about 55 pounds when fully deformed. Test yours, I used my digital bathroom scale and a rubber mat. So I know that for a 30 pound pack, the spring needs to just deform, while a full push gives me an extra tight 50ish pound pack. I repeated the measurements several times, the numbers were consistent. Good feel, good fit with the Portafilter. I tamp, lightly with the plastic scoop that came with it, just to level the coffee, then I firm the pack with this device. Good packs, good crema. I don't regret this purchase. It looks good as well. I have always heard 30-50 pound packs, but that is not going to give you the same pack for different sized portafilters. I think that pressure per unit area matters, and that a larger portafilter would require more pressure to achieve the same pack. All I can directly measure is the total pressure on the disk. I could calculate the pressure needed for different sized portafilters, Alexa will give me the area of a circle based on the diameter and then you could do proportions. I'll leave that exercise to someone who has a machine that takes a larger than 51mm tamper.

Better quality than I expected for the price.

This tamper does a great job with the filter for my De'Longhi EC680M espresso maker! It fits snug....just right so it compresses the grind all the way out to the edge of the filter.

Just received this and tried it out on a scale. When I pushed all the way to the base it registered 50 pounds. Then I tried again and when the spring engaged the scale read 29.4 pounds. My recommendation is to push down until you feel the spring give and that should be the correct pressure.

I use this every day to tamp the coffee for my Barsetto home espresso machine and love it. The spring mechanism lets me know that I've applied just the right amount of pressure to get perfectly brewed coffee every time. The weight of the tamper itself does most of the work too, so I'm not really having to apply much downward force with my hand because gravity is helping.

I bought this because my hands are weak. Oh my god this is amazing it’s big enough on top that I can get a good hold of it ,it’s heavy enough So I don’t have to push so hard it just does all the work I love it
