PetraTools HD4000 Battery Powered Backpack Sprayer, 6 Hr Runtime, 6 Nozzles

I bought this in March and wanted to try it couple times before reviewing. It's a great product. Well made. Try all of the nozzles with water to find out what you need. Also when you get it ready to go, I thought something was wrong because of no sound. But just squeeze the trigger and you are running. I had a couple of questions as I started out and called. Christina was outstanding in helping me completely. Gotta tell you just outstanding service and answering phone and trading text. NO ONE has better service. Just great in this day and age. I would recommend this company, the people (Christina) and the product over any other. Oh I purchased the 4 gallon larger one with 8 hour battery life. Well worth it.

I have never encountered a better-run company or a more efficient product than this sprayer. Since purchasing it in 2022, I have used it extensively for various gardening and landscaping tasks. It has consistently performed beautifully, providing excellent coverage and a steady flow of liquid, which has greatly facilitated my outdoor projects during the spring and summer months. The only issue I faced was in 2026 when the battery unexpectedly stopped accepting a charge. Given the frequency of use, I had anticipated some wear and tear, but I was impressed that it lasted for several years without any significant problems. When I reached out to customer service to report the battery issue, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ruth. From the moment I started the call, she was incredibly friendly and professional. She listened attentively to my concerns and reassured me that a replacement battery would be shipped out immediately, which I greatly appreciated. Finding a company that stands behind its products for such a long time is rare, and it speaks volumes about their commitment to customer satisfaction. Overall, I highly recommend this sprayer to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient tool for their gardening needs. The combination of quality performance and exceptional customer service has certainly earned my loyalty.

Customer support (Christina) is outstanding and the sprayer is great as well. I am giving 5 stars specifically for the customer support and would give the product 4 stars. The product is outstanding and is so much better than the old pump sprayer I previously used to spray my lawn for moss and weeds. 4 gallons is 2x the capacity (at little heavy but worth it; also the product has nice padded shoulder straps) and the 5 heads and continuous pump from the electric motor cuts the application time by around 4x the pump sprayer. Overall product construction is very good. However, I have had is with leaks on the hose both at the connection to the sprayer pump/tank and at the wand. Fortunately, Christina in customer support immediately shipped me the hose replacement and wand on/off portion at no cost under warranty. IMO, the product should have metal threads on each end of the hose connection. They already have a metal threaded connection from the hose to the tank but the hose to the wand is plastic and can easily tread if overtighten (which very easy to do especially if having a light leak). If PetraTools upgraded the wand to hose connector to metal, I believe the product would be 5 stars all day long!

This seems like a great unit, well build and even though I am short - was comfortable to put on. It charged just fine, my only issue was the LED panel didn't seem to light up although the unit did start no problem. I contacted PetraTools and the support was FANTASTIC. They replied immediately, went through a few trouble shooting steps and decided to immediately send me a new unit. I haven't seen support like this in years. I would recommend them just on how they handled my issue. Truly - just great support with no hassle what so ever. Hard to find companies like this today.

After using this for a while I can say it was absolutely worth it. No more manual pumping. No more crazy back and forth to refill anymore. I spend less time spraying the hundreds of plants I own. The only downside is that the wand started leaking near the nozzle after a few months of use. I just bought a sturdier wand to replace it.

PetraTools HD4000 Battery Powered Backpack Sprayer is an excellent backpack sprayer offering a wide variety of spray nozzles, excellent battery life and the 4 Gallon capacity give longer spray time.the easy of use and cleaning are straight forward. The unit was easy to assemble. the fit and finish make appear to be of the highest quality.I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

This product is great. I own a doggy daycare and we were using the pump canister for our yard spray downs. The daycare attendants love that we have switched to this battery powered units. The yards are sprayed down much quicker and in a way more efficient manner. I also appreciate the customer service. I was having hard time getting the unit to charge. I texted the support number and Anne answered within 2 minutes and helped me troubleshot the issue. With her help we had the unit charging in less then 5 minutes.

UPDATED: 7/25/25 I had this about 2 1/2 years ago and when I got it out this spring, I found that it had stopped working. The battery had gone bad in that it sort of cracked on the top and corroded the cables. Now, Christina at their customer service is awesome and she gets 5 stars! She tried and tried to help rectify this problem for me. This would have been my 5th or 6th time using the thing since I only use one 2 or 3 times each Spring/Summer. She kept checking for me to see if they had any lower assemblies to provide so that I could replace everything and the battery. This has gone on since before it got out of Spring and to this date still no parts for it. So, I am out a sprayer and this is junk. She did offer the model next down at a discount, but I just don't feel that they can keep parts for these things. An update as of 5/23/25: I had an issue with the charger and contacted customer support. I spoke with Christina, who worked very quickly to remedy the matter for me. Excellent customer service. I have just a big enough city/house lot to maintain that the regular 2- and 3-gallon pump sprayers just wear a person's hands out from all of the pumping. I've had a pump handle backpack sprayer and 2 pull behind battery driven sprayers; they all failed after a short while. After lots of reading of reviews on here and the Internet, I chose this sprayer. I did not take photos since the ad photos and videos do it justice. It was fairly easy to assemble the hoses and fittings with everything else pretty much assembled already. Teflon tape (plumbers' tape) is provided, and you get a complete roll. I found that I missed getting one of the fittings wrapped with the tape as it was leaking around the spray head. Yes, I had to even remove the spray heads and use the tape there too. Included in the prep time was putting about 2 gallons of warm water in the tank (after charging the battery for several hours), and then letting the pump run for a bit to prime the pump so that sprayer works at optimal output. It did not take but perhaps 10-15 minutes. Once the prep was completed, I chose my nozzles and affixed them, then filled the tank with water and added herbicide. Keep in mind that water weighs 8.3 pounds per gallon, and this is a 4 gallon sprayer tank, which adds another 33.2 pounds on top of what the tank and lead-acid battery weigh. Lead-acid batteries weigh more than the lithium-ion batteries (15.47 pounds for the sprayer, according to the product details). So, you are looking at loading about 50 pounds onto your back. I had to set mine up on the top of the porch and get down onto the lower steps and get into the shoulder harness, and then stand up. I did not notice any leaking that I am certain of. The second fill of this to finish my grounds produced some liquids down my back when I put it on my shoulders via the harness. I don't think that the lid was loose at all, and I did not notice any water that I missed getting into the tank, so maybe there was some leakage around a lid. But it did not do this the first time filled. I liked that there was sufficient space to fill the tank. There is another opening too. It is for filling the herbicide, or whatever you are putting in there. There is a measuring cup inside of the smaller opening. The water fill has a removable filter. This sprayer really does a great job of spraying. I only used 2 of the nozzle sets, but they were awesome. The voltmeter is a little confusing to me still. Both of the lights stayed on once the battery was charged and the sprayer turned on. Plus, there're 2 on-off buttons. One they don't call that, but instead it acts as a control of the power to regulate how much the pump maintains the pressure. The other is a toggle up and down to power it off and on. But mine stayed on if I did not turn the knob to the off position too. I did not like the weight of a filled sprayer, but that's part of it I suppose. I feel like this is on the expensive side, but if it holds up, it will be worth it in the long run. The fill lines are marked per the gallon. They are very hard to see. I might take a permanent marker and mark them but wanted to wait until I made sure the thing was going to work. They say that you can keep this thing on charge all of the time or be sure to charge it up regularly or it will go dead like the battery in your car if it sits. This is a slight drawback to me because my electric bill is high enough without adding yet another device to draw power. It's either that or set reminders to charge the thing periodically. It doesn't take up as much space to store as the pull behind sprayers. Overall, I would give it 4.5 stars. I hope that this helps someone to decide whether to try the product or not.

Good size does the job

Really like this sprayer! I've used it multiple times to spray my weeds and I fill it right to the top. I'm 5'9", 180 and it's a little heavy but totally usable with that weight. Battery runs for a long time, charges quick, and I've had NO leaks. Nice large opening to fill it, wand works great and the multiple attachments for different types of spray work really well.

I have only used the sprayer a couple of times but I'm quite impressed by how solid it is, it's durable and will hopefully stand up to the rigours or regular use! It is a little uncomfortable though as it's quite square, so when you fill the tank it can dig in to your lower back, I'm not worried about this though as I have some rugged foam padding to stick along the bottom which should sort it! There's a good range of accessories and nozzles so I should have the kit for every different job I encounter. Still early days but I'm really impressed by the price and build, would highly recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing! 😁👍

You can stop viewing all the other options now and be assured this sprayer will work just fine. This sprayer was bought to replace a big-name brand unit and I couldn't be happier with it. I have only sprayed 6 tanks so far, but I can already tell this is going to last a long time. I watched several reviews on YouTube before making the purchase and they all were good reviews as well as a one-year-later review. The unit is fairly heavy when full along with the weight of a lead acid battery, but the straps are comfortable, and being a backpack unit it's not an issue for me as a 185 lb guy. Some people might find it too much though. The hose seems durable. I read reviews saying the wand seemed light and flimsy, but I have no complaints. It's every bit as good as the one I replaced. My only complaint, and it's minor is that I wish the charging cord was about a foot longer, but that's just a personal preference. Well done Petratools.
