Ever wish you could store a rifle or shotgun underneath your bed, yet still have it locked up and out of the hands of your kids? Imagine the peace of mind you'd have knowing your firearm is within arm's reach while you're sleeping. This is exactly what our friends over at Stealth were thinking when they developed the Defense Vault DV652. This safe is truly engineered to the highest quality specifications and designed with the safes application in mind, unique to comparable under the bed safes. The first feature most notable about this under the bed safe is Stealth's Electronic Lock. This is actually the same lock they put on their high security gun safes, and it actually illuminates when touched allowing you to see the numbers in the dark. This is currently the only under the bed safe with an illuminated keypad. Once the correct combination is entered, you can now slide the five-point locking bar to open the door of the safe. Once the door has dropped, you can now slide out the foam-padded tray. This tray is designed to store your favorite home defense weapon without fear of it getting scratched. Weighing in at 74 lbs, the fourteen gauge steel body proves this safe as the heavy duty option when it comes to home defense under the bed weapon storage. The four pre-drilled mounting holes make this safe super easy to mount and all mounting hardware is included with every purchase. If you're looking for fast access, secure weapon storage in an under the bed style, the Stealth Defense Vault DV652 is the safe you've been looking for. Stay away from this one, people. Seriously.
(Amended September 19, 2018)Originally, I rated this safe five stars for its quality build and easy set up. Now I'm not only downgrading to one star, but I would also suggest that this safe is actually quite inconvenient, and putting your faith into it and this company is not a good bet.In short, the electronic lock suddenly failed without warning after about a year and a half of use. I discovered this late one evening while hearing strange noises coming from my garage and I went to pull my weapon out before checking on the situation. I entered the same code as always - no dice. Tried it again - NOPE. Kept trying until the lock-out feature kicked in. That was three months ago, and I haven't gained access yet.Luckily, I had a back-up gun in another safe, and the garage noise turned out to be nothing.However...Amsec has not been very much help at all. Even though I live very near the physical location of their offices, I was informed that they do not do repairs or service on the premises - only sales. To their credit, they did eventually send me a replacement keypad in the unlikely event that the fault lay there. Unfortunately, it did not - the failure, apparently is an internal one. And because I am "out of warranty", the best Amsec says they can do is recommend a locksmith to whom they will send the "master" password in order to reset the lock. I am being told that this MIGHT work. Of course, the entire expense of having a locksmith come out to my house will be an out-of-pocket one on my part. And so far, the quotes I'm getting from these guys to even come out and LOOK at the safe rival the cost of the safe itself. In other words, I am pretty much screwed. All of this out of the clear blue after a little more than a year of use. My immediate prospects - and the one I'm beginning to lean towards - involves the use of a hammer and crowbar. Cut my losses and apply the money toward the purchase of another (NOT Amsec) safe.Folks, this very securely-constructed Amsec safe has NO BACK-UP KEY WHATEVER. Thusly, in order to operate the lock, you are entirely dependent on whatever electronic guts Amsec has seen fit to install. And so if the electronics fail, then THE SAFE FAILS. And chances are, when the electronics do fail, it will be after such a time you will be OUT OF WARRANTY. You will then be faced with the prospect of spending an amount of money equal to the cost of the safe in order to get a locksmith to open it for you, or breaking the safe open yourself (thereby destroying it) in order to retrieve whatever valuables that will have been stuck therein while you've been mulling over your decision.Do yourself a favor - steer clear of this one. There are other similar safes around... ones that come with a back-up key so you can at least gain access to your possessions if an electronic failure should occur.

Amended
Amended 03/01/2021: three years in and had an issue with the internal lock; amsec sent a new keypad and swing bolt lock, neither worked so had to have the safe drilled costing about $200. Due to the position of the keypad, no other similar keypad or lock will fit.Original post: Far exceeded my expectations, and all the more so, being one of the more economical options!Works great and as an added bonus, you don't need to rely on entering a code at an inopportune time; you can 'stage' it, so that if you need to get to things in a hurry you can.Just enter your code and slide the locking lever open slightly, before hand, and you can have instant access at any given moment without having to enter the code. Then, just slide the locking lever to the lock position when you are ready to secure things again. There is plenty of room for all my goodies as you can see from the attached.

Only thing it's missing is a single piece of masking tape!
It's perfect for what we wanted. It's very quiet, smooth, and the right combination of size and weight we were hoping for... light enough for one reasonably fit man to move around (when it's not bolted down) so you hopefully won't need help when it arrives. (I carried it up the stairs by myself no problem, but I made my 4 year old stay well away so he wouldn't trip me up and get flattened. Feels to be good quality.I love the fact that the keypad lights up so that in the dark with adrenaline running, we're more likely to get it right on the first try. So many other cheap under-the-bed safes have multiple buttons that are impossible to tell apart in the dark other than to use other buttons as reference points, which could be tricky if your heart is really pumping. The box it showed up in had taken a real beating and there was a very loud rattling sound, so I was worried that it would be damaged... so much so that I had my son video tape me opening it so I could prove it was damaged in shipping. But it was actually packaged very well, and despite the weight and obvious abuse it had taken getting here, it was completely unharmed. FYI, don't worry about the rattle, that's just the mounting bolt flopping around inside. I guess a single piece of masking tape would've been a bridge too far. :-)Only downside I see is that without a secondary lock system, you better not forget the combination! So if you can be trusted to remember it or write it down in a safe place, then no worries. If you're not that organized... maybe this isn't the safe for you.Size wise, I put in an AR15 (with optics, flashlight grip, and installed magazine with stock collapsed) and 3 extra magazines as well as a Glock .40 cal with three extra magazines, and had plenty of space to spread them out on the quiet rubber mat, no problems with height, depth, or width. Gotta be honest, it makes me feel little bit badass when I slide that drawer out... straight outta the movies. haha
