Rapper's Delight Best of

So far, so good.

As a teen this was my absolute all time favorite song and I had the vinyl that had the extended version on one side. The 15 minute version. For the last 10 years or so I have tried over and over to find that version with no luck. Only up to 8 minute length but now I have it again and couldn't be more thrilled.No longer do I get the lines confused since it is not the original EP. Now I keep up beginning to end as I still have this fun song memorized and still enjoy belting it out loudly and off key. Bonus was not having to wait for the CD as it was immediately available to me on Amazon Music.

The Sugarhill Gang brought Rap to the mainstream and in many ways cut a path for others to follow and build upon. Listening to this album, their nostalgic appeal is obvious. It is upbeat with catchy hooks and fun lyrics. The beat will get your head bopping and toes tapping. This is timeless music about partying, having some good fun from "Back in the Day" where the worst thing you could be is a "Sucka MC."Recommended songs: "Rapper's Delight," "Apache," "Kickin' It Live From 9 to 5."What this is not: Do not expect the technical sophistication of today's recording artists with 48 track recording and computer assist. Do not expect to find some social message - the only message here is having fun at the club or party.Personal Note: The Sugarhill Gang was my first exposure to Rap music more than 30 years ago. It is good to hear rap without someone "Bustin a cap," or demeaning women. As to its staying power, I played this for the college student hire in my office and it was a big hit with her.

I'm a 69 year old woman who has never been interested in listening to rap or hip hop music before. I go to low impact aerobics three times weekly and one of the songs the instructor plays is APACHE by the SugarHill Gang. I just love that song, so I bought this CD. I found out that I like most of the other songs on this CD, but APACHE is still my favorite!!

I'm really happy to have the 1st rap album ever made. :)

In my opinion, this is the one and only "Genuine rap" CD ever made. I don't use it for anything, I just added it to my oldie but goodie collection.

This is one piece of rap history that I'm proud to have as part of my old school rap artists/ music collection. I love the Cd from start to end. The songs are here presented in their full & extended version glory. MY PERSONAL FAVORITES ARE rappers delight..hot hot summer day...8th wonder...Showdown (with the Furious Five) Apache..Girls..& work work the body. If you are a fan of old school rap music than this is a must have cd for your collection. I am very happy with my purchase!

I was listening to this album last week and the music kept me moving. You don't SIT in your chair, you DANCE, ;-)Really love Apache and Hot Hot Summer Day. The latter one I found in a bargain bin when we were all still using vinyl. Haven't a clue what made me pick it up but as soon as I got it on the turntable, I loved it. The album features a long version of Rapper's Delight. It's the first time I've ever heard it. You know when you hear different versions of the 7" single cuts? Well, all those are included in this big recording. And it is huge - 14-and-a-bit minutes of it. I mean, you what!!!I've still to play that on my radio station, ;-) I will be doing that. Lovely album.
