one day, an inventor named Dean Kamen saw a young man in a wheelchair struggling to get to the sidewalk. He realized that the problem was not that the wheelchair was inefficient, but that the world had been built for people who could balance. Later, he and his team created the IBOT Mobility System , a wheelchair for people with reduced mobility that uses a balancing system on two parallel wheels to climb stairs and slopes while maintaining a horizontal attitude. This wheelchair was so stable and maneuverable that the idea of putting everyone on two parallel wheels led him to design the Segway i167, the world's first gyroplane in 2001. Today, the Segway-Ninebot group is the world leader in marketing EDPM (Personal Powered Mobility Device), with more than 110,000 professional gyroplanes on all continents, and more than one million electric scooters sold each year.
