Brash Bountiful Basics
Written by a ghost writer, this is an interesting one-time read for the novice and a quick refresher for the seasoned investors. Although a bit self-promotional and braggardly, there are some excellent summaries of stock investing techniques and strategies.Best borrowed from the library, though - once read, there's no reason to keep it to hand.

Cramer encourages you to get back into the game.
Not sure if this book help choosing stocks but since 2009 almost any stock made incredible gains - S&P500 index up ~60% over 5 years. If anything, Cramer encourages you to get back into the game. For that the book has already paid itself off.

Awesome Options/Dividends Chapters
The Jim Cramer book collection is loaded with solid financial advice, explained well. Cramer normally focuses on stock valuation, spotting tops and bottoms, retirement, and more traditional investing topics. However, “Getting Back To Even” stands out among the book collection for its excellent two chapters on options trading.Jim details common misconceptions about options, their utility, and some unique ways to use them.An entire chapter is dedicated to an option strategy he calls “long call/short common” which he successfully used at his hedge fund for years. I’ve tested this strategy out on a small scale and it works.I recommend reading other options texts to supplement your knowledge since Jim doesn’t review the Greeks or any of the technical quirks that you should know beforehand. Try “Understanding Options” by Michael Sincere and “Options as a Strategic Investment” by Larry McMillan.Lastly, this book has a meaty chapter on dividends and their importance in long term investing. Too many times capital gains get all the limelight and dividends are an afterthought. This chapter should set you straight.
