I bought these for my brother
My brother found a tiny gecko in his bathroom. Then went outside and found one crawling on his front porch. There are several of them and they all were wanting to go in his house. This is a long story for another time. My brother like myself had a stroke and depends on his daughter for his shopping needs. One of the geckos has dropped his tail so he’s keeping it in an enclosed tank along with a couple others of various sizes till the one grows his tail back. His daughter was stopping at PetCo around once a week for crickets and so I told him about Josh’s. Then I just ordered him 500 small crickets so he could see for himself. When they came he had his cricket tank container ready. I had told him there would be a “whole lotta” crickets. When he opened the box and the cylinder he turned it upside down and several crickets fell onto the small tank and he said there weren’t as many as he thought. Then he pulled out the cardboard egg crate and he said damn it was covered in small crickets. They were jumping all over that little tank. He called me so pleased and so happy to see the condition of all of them all too. He figured he would see a bunch of dead ones but there were only a few. I told him Josh’s was the best place I have found for reptile food. I have tiny anoles and recommend everyone buy from Josh’s. You get more than what you pay for. My brother is so happy to just open this tank and see all these healthy crickets. He said when you buy 50 of them at Petco they are in a prefilled paper bag and you will always see at least 10 dead ones in the bag of 70 and that just looks bad. To buy 500 or more and they are alive and “they came by mail” he said, is just extraordinary. He has the food to keep them that way too. He used to work at Petco and he said they have never carried crickets this small. Thank you Josh’s for another very satisfied customer!! My brother is ecstatic!!

Survival Crickets!!!
These crickets are survivors! I think they’ve been practicing for the apocalypse. I ordered 500 of the 1/4 inch crickets. Unfortunately, it was very hot Wednesday when they were supposed to be delivered. As soon as I got home from work I looked around but found nothing. Thursday when I got home, I found that our renter had taken the box and put it inside the closed the garage (even hotter!). After two days in over 100 degree weather I was sure they had all been murdered. (I was feeling more than a little heated towards the renter!) I angrily started to throw the container in the trash can and prepared to order a new set. Something inside me felt guilty for the one little terrified cricket that might still be alive in there and I decided to open the box. Shockingly, there were quite a few still alive! I cannot fathom how so many survived that heat! Our frogs and gecko were quite happy. I cannot truly attest to the scent or the flavor of these crickets, being that they are so small and generally not very strong smelling… and I am pescatarian. However, based upon the reaction of the frogs and gecko, I believe they’re quite tasty!

Crickets, crickets everywhere!
Great value for the price. Just beware there is NO INNER BOX. As soon as you break the packing seal you will have crickets climbing out everywhere! Be prepared and be warned!Out of the 500 I ordered, I only had maybe 2-3 DOA. All the rest were alive and kicking. There are way too many for a large "cricket keeper" so you will want to have a large Sterilite container or something to house them in. I would recommend opening the box and your storage container inside a bathtub or something so you have less escapees. A clear small plastic drinking cup also works well to corral up strays that manage to hop away during the transfer. Just give them a nudge and they jump straight into the cup. These are very long lived crickets. It has been several weeks now and I have had very few deaths. All are growing nicely. Be sure to provide adequate food and water. A container of dry cat food (or something similar) and generic water crystals work well. Also add some fresh carrots and/or an apple and you should be set. The most important thing is a water source. As shipped they are slightly larger than pin-heads. They will continue to grow and mature to adult size.

Perfect size!
The media could not be loaded. Perfect size for my jumping spider! A lot arrived alive and in great condition! My boy was hungry and I couldn't find him food fast enough. These crickets saved his life for sure! Will order again when we are out!

Scam
I've ordered from Amazon for years, and this is the worst product I've ever received. The crickets were in the Amazon box with no other packaging. Most had escaped. The few left were dead. I will never order from Josh's Frogs again.

Grear
I have no complaints about the crickets. I do wish some wouldn’t die so quickly but I guess that’s normal. I have the cricket quencher and cricket food so I’m thinking I do everything right. I like that you put the crickets in a tube. That’s unlike bassets. They deliver just in a cardboard box and when I opened it crickets were coming out everywhere. I probably lost 25 or more in my house trying to get it closed back up. I will only order from one Josh’s now.
