Not at all what I expected
The was disappointing for In expected more interesting music artists that were more mainstream than the few here. Add to that each one that did interest me was full of stuff well known back then or full of nonsense and or bravado ! Waste of time !

I knew it would be perfect for him
My husband loves reading the interviews from Rolling Stone, so when i came by this collection, I knew it would be perfect for him. He has really been enjoying it- such a nice assortment of monumental interviews. My husband, who never reads books— heck- who never even uses any gifts I get him— regularly reads this, as it holds his attention. Finally- a winner gift, and a nice copy to have in your book collection.

A fine piece of history
This book is a collection of some of the best Rolling Stone interviews made between the end of the 60s (when Rolling Stone was founded) and the mid 00s. The book contains interviews with famous people from different areas (John Lennon, Oriana Fallaci, Francis Ford Coppola, Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama, etc) and you feel like you are really there when the interview is taking place, you can easily picture yourself inside those four walls where the interview happened and see the interviewees confiding stuff they never had to the public in an incredible way. It's a page turner, and above all an educative and really fun book that will positively surprise most readers (it did in my case).

Rolling Stone Interviews Don't Gather Much Moss
I read the first fifty Rolling Stone interviews in a book published in the early seventies -- some of which is reproduced here -- if they had only reproduced that book in it's entirety -- my rating would be a solid five stars. The Stone interviews just haven't been able to reach the heights of that initial bunch, although there are some fine ones here, like Crowe's interviews with Neil Young and Joni Mitchell -- but there are missing parts from the Pete Townsend interview, and the earlier Dylan was much better. There were dynamite interviews with Mike Bllomfield etc. in the original that didn't make this -- and the book suffers for it.

The real MTV
I was 13 when MTV came on our cable system, which was shortly after it premiered. It opened up a musical perspective I had not been aware of. In its early days, MTV was quite good but as time went on its demise was all but apparent. This book chronicles the first 10 years of MTV and it is a great behind the scenes look at this channel and in a way it is a commentary on the times that spawned it. I highly recommend this book.

Enjoyable 'verbal snapshots' of a wide range of interesting figures
Funny, revealing, and insightful interviews with celebrities from the music, literary, political and business circles. Context and editing are really well done. How can you not enjoy a compilation where Jerry Garcia comes across as Mr Everyman and Bill Clinton's temper gets front page treatment?I recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys great interviews (and interesting revelations) from public figures.joe s.

Rolled Gold (with apologies...)
More than just rock & roll. Outstanding interviews with cultural icons spanning four decades. What else is there to say?Well, the genius of the interviewers, for starters. The Introduction is a study in the art of the interview.Whether or not you care about music or what the individual subjects have to say, the interviews resonate on many levels. Especially if you 'came of age' commencing the late 60's, this is a collection you will read again & again.Enjoy.

Interesting book about interesting people!
This looks like an interesting compilation of also interesting people. I plan to give it to my son who is a musician and travels with various artists. A good read for the rock 'n roll road.
