Straits Academy Paperback – October 1, 2012

The sex was great, the foreplay through touching and spanking was a turn on. Madame Ong is great character. I hope to read more about her. Mr. Drake and his niece, are a fun twist. I need more stories.

It's got what the reader interested in this genre is looking for. However the plot was much better than usual, and could have been turned into a good full sized novel if the young damsel would have found herself stranded in the Academy as a result of a situation whereby the hero got delayed (an accident, amnesia, being shanghaied, etc.) Then, our lovely lass would have found no way to prove her real identity and be forced to be a "schoolgirl" with no way out for a while longer. Think of the possibilities. A new headmistress, being "sent down" to an even more humiliating lower level of yet even younger students, one of which would have become the head girl and put our heroine under some very humbling circumstances. Alas, these novels of this genre in the Kindle library seem to spend much too little time on story and plot, end too quickly, and attempt to hold the reader's interest with just page after page of the cane and moist undies. Believe me, if there is a well thought out and fully explored plot, the embarrassment, the humiliation, the unexpected dilemma can make the storyline much more titilating for the reader.

I've read all of Alice Liddell's books and was excited to hear about the release of Strait's Academy. Anytime you read a favorite author you always worry that their latest book won't match up to the previous ones. But in this case, she has exceeded expectations.The plot is set in Victorian times - one of my favorite settings - an follows a young English woman named Adelaide who arrives in Singapore to learn the man she was supposed to marry has been murdered. Her husband's friend delivers the news and enlists Adelaide in a plan to help him find the truth of what happened to her fiancé.Adelaide learns that her husband has ties to a mysterious girls' school called Straits Academy, which trains young women sexually to be submissive lovers. The methods used at the school are very strict - lots of spanking and bottom play per Alice Liddell's usual offerings. It's all very hot, extremely kinky but written with such delightful description you won't be able to stop reading. (I could not put this book down).There's more than sex to this book; there's a neat little mystery woven into the story and the ongoing attraction between Adelaide and her "Uncle" Drake smolders.Another winner from Alice Liddell. I wish I could give it ten stars.

I was a bit disappointed in this book especially for the price and the description of being a full length story. It did have a story which was nice and complete if you were looking to solve the murder of her fiance as your purpose to purchasing the book. It did have some (as in 3 very short ones) "hot" and "dirty" scenes in it BUT I fully expected more scenes at the school and at home with "uncle". I expected this book to be more of a story of age play and discipline with the murder secondary.... my mistake.... The school would be a very "hot" focal point with the story continuing on into the lives of the "uncle" and "niece" to make it a book I thought I was purchasing or one I would have been excited to read and re-read. With that in mind (what I thought or hoped I was going to be reading), this book wasn't up to a 5 star rating not for $4.99. Should have been presented as a story of a murder with some touches of...

I have read several books by this author and can not wait for more. the Strait Academy gives you a little romace and suspense, with a mild age play added in. If you love suspense and a little romance this story is for you.

I loved this! I wish there were more stories like this one! I wish there was a follow up for how their relationship progressed afterwards. I guess it's too much to hope for a sequel!!!

This book could have been much better. It looks as if Alice was holding back, engaging in some self censorship. Childbride Island was a much better read.

The story was intriguing and different. The ending was extremely rushed and it left u wondering what happened in some areas of the story, even though it's a full story with no indication that there's a continuation.

Alice Liddel has done it again! I wasn't so sure that I was going to enjoy this tale as much as I had 'Training Alice' and 'Childbride Island',but after the first few pages I was well and truly hooked. She is able to write about 'unmentionable' behaviour leaving indelible images in the mind without causing offence. Always tastefully written, perfectly detailed, an excellent story, and carefully researched. Don't miss this story, whatever you do!

Great drama but the relationship did not flow for me. Something was missing in the development of the relationship. A bit hard hitting...literally.
